True. The Ford F-250 pickup is a 7.3 L diesel while the gas motor is a 5L .

@Simon-cb4bq So the make starters the turn over the engines by magic?

My friend just bought a new Mazda3 for $23,000 Canadian. The battery need to be replaced on E-cars and are $6,000 and will need to be replaced. Pay more to go less of a range is nuts.

Cars are better, now they have 7 and 10 year warranties. Cars in the 70s and 80s were lucky to last that long. My dad bought a new 1977 GMC truck and it looked like junk with a flatbed that replaced the box that rusted out in 1983. Today a 6 year old truck (2014) could go back in the show room without people noticing.

Pause it at 18:43 and read the battery care and life details! No thank you. Avoid quick charges and prolong driving???? WTF A $35,000 car that can not go down a highway on a trip?

There would be no Transports 18 wheeler trucks on the road bringing every single man made object or food to a store if not for a diesel. Not electric or gas engine can run a Truck over two tons efficiently.

Must be hard on the bendix drive and ,solenoid and starter? Instead of the starter engaging 1000 times a year it will be 1000 times a week.

@pH7oslo My new Ford F-150 4x4 pickup truck has start/stop but it has a option to turn it off which I do all the time. I wonder how many other do as well?

Do not leave town on a trip with a E-Car . Buy a 2rd car for long trips , got it. How do they heat the interior in Winters, now the range is even less.
1
LOTs on the tesla its $7000.
1
Fast charges are harder on batties than slow charges ,making that $7000 battery replacement come sooner.
1
Anything over $30,000 better not be a one trick pony.
1
Now your car that can not go on a 200 mile road trips will cost $40,000 not $35,000.

The tow trucks will be on a first name basis.

Has nothing to do with the Earth's population being 7.8 billion today (4.4 Billion in 1980 for comparison). China has as many cars on the road as the USA has people.

How can you get rid of diesels. There would be no Transports 18 wheeler trucks on the road bringing every single man made object or food to a store if not for a diesel. Not electric or gas engine can run a Truck over two tons efficiently.
1
And worst yet the battery now has to heat the interior of the car and run the defrost fan. So the already pathetic range is even less.
1
Also fast high power charges shorten a battery life compared to a 12 hr 120v charge.
1
And for the price difference you can buy a lot of fuel. How do these things work in the winter with the heater and defrost blowers on all the time?
1
Match 3 min at a gas pump with a 400 mile range. I,m not having 30 min lunches every 200 miles. Until then E-cars are a commuter ride only.
1
No road trips over 300km and you need a one hour recharge if a recharge station is available.
