Yes, by the same mentality, business competitors could accuse fellow US companies that sold ingredients, parts or supplies to another company, then merged with that company, of "insider trading". Nonsense. The only main legit legal argument might be that the merge is "monopolistic". By pushing out all & every other competitor in that market; completely controlling & owning that market. Which can be very dangerous, depending on how vital that business/market is for our economy & public well-being & safety. And it has to be proven. Regardless, even quasi-illegal (?) monopolies forming appear to be ignored. When is the last time a monopoly case publicly went to court? A dubious merge or acquisition fought & stopped? I can't remember. 🤔

Funny, how most MSM companies are owned by just 1 or 2 parent companies. Who are given a free pass to control the US public information market. Nobody seems to take them to court for monopolistic control of the news business. 🙄
