If state & local police/investigators were better trained & more cooperative working with other state's local law enforcement agencies, the FBI wouldn't need to step in to solve cases, very true. Can't count how many times FBI agents solved terrible crimes or pin-pointed offenders within hours, vs local police who floundered for days, having little investigative knowledge, experience or direction. That said, it's a tragedy that FBI leadership has destroyed the careers of those good bright people who work beneath them. However - offer the proven decent FBI employees jobs at state & local levels & maybe something good will come of a Federal house cleaning.
