  1. Very interesting. 😊 (Yes, it's believed half went northwards, possibly with Lumbee tribe guides. And the other half headed south, unescorted. Maybe to increase the entire group's chances of survival. The southward members also might not have trusted the Lumbee. There's no evidence yet of them having survived the trek, I think.)

  2. Been following this story awhile - it is fascinating! More so after miscalculating the long drive, alone, from the Manteo/Roanoke area down thru this very empty remote coastline late one night. Got lost about 1am, surrounded by complete darkness & thousands of glowing marsh creature eyes, 🌾👀🌿 I truly appreciate the colony survivor's bravery & the fear they must've felt leaving their settlement for the unknown. It's very scary.
