  4.  @billedwards4285  At the time, the Republicans needed Trump to win seats & Trump needed them/Republican support to win. It was an uneasy bedeviling situation & alliance. People forget that the majority of DC Republicans did not want to nominate or support a Trump Presidency. But The People did. And so he won. And you can be pretty sure The People will never be allowed such power again. (2020 - heavy sarcasm. 😒)
