A few years ago, my elderly dad cosigned a 30K home loan leveraging his own home as collateral, for a friend posing as me. The bank wasn't happy to discover this & neither was I. Somehow, she avoided legal punishment & jail time by repaying the loan quickly. Her husband & his mom (my dad's GF) were part of the scheme. Look out for your parents.
