Have completely lost track of this devastating & futile go-nowhere war, but agree that with the millions in money & weapons the US is shoveling into Zelenski's crater hole, this man's death shouldn't have happened. The torture, too. But, will also say, arrogant travelers, wherever they come from, should absolutely obey the laws of the countries they visit. Expecting the US/home govts to bail you out of foreign jails for knowingly doing something illegal is an incredible risk to take. Harsh, yes, but look at this way - when migrants cross US borders & commit crimes that are deemed "acceptable" in their countries, angry Americans understandably blow their tops. And demand justice. Everyone should just respect each other's laws or stay home.
