@piehound , I am unfamiliar with the equivalence of those two words in your “culture.” That attorney merely was doing his job to make relevant statements about his client on the issue of bail.

@piehound , okay, I mistakenly thought you were the OP to whom I initially had responded. He had used the term “slander.” Sorry about that. As to “youth,” I view many YT crime stories involving juvenile offenders. The vast majority of comments justifiably denigrate those offenders. This is the first of hundreds of threads I’ve read where people are saying “young” means “fine.” I really don’t know to whom you’re referring in American society as worshipping youth. I hear where American culture seems to put hip hop stars on pedestals in spite of their blatant criminal bent, celebrating violence in videos and lyrics, etc. Anyway, the law requires the right to defense counsel. The lawyer looked to be in his fifties. His 30 year old client is a young man compared to the lawyer. I personally don’t speak like that when referencing a 30 year old but maybe that’s the lawyer’s style. I played back the video to make sure I didn’t miss the word “fine.” Had the lawyer said “fine,” I’d agree with everyone on this thread.
