The foot bruise could have been from the way the video showed them dragging him around. I think they were negligent. I doubt it was intentional. I think they accidentally overdosed him with sedative after he probably freaked out at the sentence imposed. I doubt he ever made it to the work camp.

  21. I never heard of this alleged “normal” game until the past couple years and I’m age 59. The family alleged it’s an “innocent game.” Obviously it’s not “innocent” when it’s meant to irritate adult strangers. Any such historical “normal” game became obsolete with the modern proliferation of teenage violence in American society. The kid is lucky he wasn’t shot. The problem here is that his father should have been the one to have beat the hell out of him, not the cop. The parents should be shaking hands with the cop for teaching their son a lesson, not hiring a lawyer. It’s irrelevant whether the state files disorderly conduct or harassment charges against the kids. Everyone knows their conduct was illegal. The DA might feel the kids learned their lesson the hard way already and are using discretion not to pursue it. Legally, the cop was wrong for overreacting. I’m sure the kid is a punk and mouthed off to provoke the cop to assault him. That’s not a legal justification but I can assume it. Morally, I have no problem with the cop beating the daylights out of that kid. PS to BLM snowflakes: race is not an issue necessarily. Presumably a white cop let this white kid have it. Punks get what’s coming to them, regardless of race.

Her app screen would instruct her to pick up “Nikolas C.” Her court subpoena summons obviously says “Florida v. Nikolas Cruz” now. At the time, she wouldn’t have known his last name. Unrelated issue: I understand the presumption of innocence during the guilt phase to prohibit presumptively innocent defendants from wearing prison garb in front of the jury. However, Cruz already pleaded guilty and court is in the penalty phase. Jury already knows Cruz is staying in prison. Fifth, the court bail commissioner set the 2020 new cases bail at over $100,000 (10%}, Sixth, bail bondsman John Neumann Mason posted bail 3 days later. Seventh, in spring 2022, court revoked bail and issued numerous bench warrants because Lennon failed to show for court. Eighth, in early April 2023, Lennon was arrested on those prior bench warrants. Ninth, on April 13, 2023, Judge Jacqueline Frazier-Lyde, daughter of Smokin Joe Frazier, released Lennon on ROR bail. Tenth, on April 28, 2023, Lennon leaves behind 5 bodies on Palmetto Street.

Now this video implies that the officer was chasing due to an ordinary car theft (license plate hit as stolen, etc.). Now I would eat my words if it turns out the officer had cause to believe the guy had a gun. Also, a previous commenter is correct that the vehicle chase must be authorized by the supervisor cop on radio because the decision is that important. I’m not suggesting to crucify the cop. I’m pointing out that policy has been updated since the 20th century. The chance of an accident in Philly is greater than a police chase in Perkasie.

I’m pretty sure they were open everyday during football season and maybe closed Sunday after football season. I just visited their new FB page. I didn’t see their new hours of operation. However, they posted 5 days ago (Monday ?) that they were open until 10 pm that day. Thus, it looks to me like their new hours of operation still include M-W. Also, the FB video reel 5 days ago showed no security guard. Obviously, they are not paying for security when they’re closed. Edit: I moved down south last year so I won’t be back as a customer anytime soon.

For the sake of argument, let’s pretend that you’re right, I’m wrong, and Israel “stole” Palestine from the Arabs. It’s history. It’s done. Japan and Germany lost WW 2. They signed peace treaties. They rebuilt their countries and prospered. Egypt and Jordan gave up their fights with Israel, signed treaties, and now live in peace. Palestinians and Lebanese could do the same thing. Just sign peace treaties. Make something for their cultures. Stop subjecting their people to generations and cycles of revenge and retaliation. Instead, they choose to subject their alleged constituents to misery.

It’s not “completely bogus.” “Apartheid” was a South African government race-based policy. I recognize your Israeli-Arab rhetoric analogy to South Africa but disagree with it. Regardless of the merit of your analogy, it’s irrelevant to the issues of life and peace. A rational culture would conclude that 76 years of fighting a losing battle is enough. War has winners and losers throughout history. Palestinians disagree with the outcome but the outcome will not change in our lifetime. The losers reluctantly hold their nose, accept the outcome, and try their best to forge a realistic future for themselves. If the future is peaceful, then the winner can feel more secure in granting concessions to the losing side, such as independence.

The additional argument is that Jews had houses there during the Roman Empire and were “kicked out.” The word “horrendous” also is applicable to European governments exterminating millions of Jews and gypsies during World War 2. Did Great Britain promise Arab Palestinians independence after World War I? Maybe. The issue culminated in warfare and Israel was “created.” It’s sad to see generations of Palestinians wasting their lives vowing revenge and retaliation for ancient grievances. They subject themselves to so-called leaders willing to sacrifice their entire society rather than acquiescence.

William Penn had renamed the neighborhood from “New Sweden” to “Southwark.” My great-grandfather and grandfather operated a laundry service there near 2nd & Christian. My grandfather bought a house near 3rd & Federal in the 1920’s where I have called “traditional” South Philly just below Washington. My father graduated Southern High School in 1947. In the 1950’s, my parents married and bought a house in NE Philly. I was born and raised in NE Philly in the 1960’s and 1970’s. In the 1970’s, the city renamed “Southwark” as “Queen Village” as a nod to the old Queen of Sweden whose subjects initially had named the area as New Sweden and built the church at Christian & Delaware Avenue. West of Broad Street, South Philly begins south of South Street. East of Broad Street, neighborhood names such as Queen Village, Bella Vista, and Pennsport still prevail.

She likely had mental illness and ran the streets. Still not a reason for driver to keep going. Driver could have stopped and told cop she ran in front of his car. Video could have supported his claim. Now he will be pursued for both vehicular manslaughter and hit & run, probably because he was DUI and/ or not licensed.
