Protestants were the first to spread the word slut and burn women. The Victorian upper class women saw lower class women as sluts without taking into account the societal and economic factors that led them to engage in certain behaviors, such as prostitution or promiscuity. This contributed to the stigmatization and marginalization of women from lower classes. Fear of sharing resourcs make peopel use dehumanizing words. The reason behind slut shaming is the deeply ingrained societal belief that a woman's worth is tied to her sexual behavior and that women who are sexually active are somehow less respectable or deserving of respect. This harmful attitude perpetuates gender inequality and contributes to a culture of victim blaming and sexual violence.
