Before Harvey Weinstein was disgraced and outed as a serial rapist and a despicable pustule, he had a nickname in Hollywood and international film circles known as “Harvey Scissorhands,” whenever he purchases the film right to a foreign film or help finance a domestic film, he uses his producer privilege to alter and edit films, without the input of the directors. It’s debatable on whether or not Harvey’s edits helps the films, sometimes the edited version received nominations and awards, other times they completely failed. If a filmmaker protest the cut, he either will shelve the original film indefinitely, or just ignore them, because to Harvey, he’s untouchable. Well, not anymore.
