Fishing for salmon on a river here on the west coast of Ireland - I would sometimes see elders climbing a vertical surface by working their way up it using the thick layer of algae/slime on the rock surface - they seemed to stick to the algae and wiggle to do this..! Incredibly hardy creatures that can survive out of water for a long time - a pain in the a$$ when fishing if they take your bait - they take it down under a rock and you would often lose the end tackle...!
