I get the feeling they are already setting the narrative for not accepting an AfD victory - public announcements that "Russian Misinformation is tied to support for AfD....!" etc - and this seems to be the way they intend to go - by giving themselves the right to decide what is true and what is allowed to be said - and using that to nullify election results they don't like...! Wait and See....!
