  1. I don't really understand the premise that conservatives are on the right - and liberals are on the left. The US simply doesn't have a political party which is on the left of centre in the political spectrum. Liberals occupy the centre ground and I would see the Democrats as being centre/right. The US simply doesn't have a left of centre socialist party.
