  5. Although we use terms such as herbivore and carnivore, the truth is nearer omnivore. There are niche species which specialise in only type of food, and some which stick to a preferred diet, but those aren’t universal traits. I once watched sheep mob a group of picnickers for lamb, ham, and chicken sandwiches, and don’t stand near hungry goats with anything vaguely edible (including small children).

  7. Remember when we had the most stringent animal welfare and slaughter regulations in, quite possibly, the world? The RSPCA were vocal back then, when the EUocrats tried to force lower standards onto the UK. There were serious concerns about livestock transport, abattoir cruelty, and contaminated meat entering the supply chain. I miss the good old days, before compromises of convenience became the political norm. Anyway, how does one hug a cow or bull - or sheep - terrified by the stink of blood and death?
