  3. I have candles and stand-alone cooking facilities put by. Shame modern houses don’t have open fires by which to make toast during a blackout. That’d be a real 1970s experience.

  6. My union has quite a lot of anti-Labour sentiment right now. The leaders are planning to push for a HUGE pay rise which could never be agreed, thus causing direct conflict, strikes and go-slows. All arranged via the proper legal means. Maybe some people are no longer betting on the dinosaur.

  7. There are several mega-unions but not all are dear to Labour’s heart (if Labour can still boast a heart). ASLEF are a favoured pet, of course, but UNISON isn’t. I’m not certain of the politics there, but I guess ensuring there’s transport for a quick incognito escape is considered more important than hiding among cleaners and office staff.
