  1. David Lammy MP: born 19th July 1972 at Whittington Hospital to Guyanese parents. Although Guyana is in South America, it’s more often considered, and treated as, part of the Caribbean. Mainly descendants of slaves freed after the Dutch ceded the area to Britain in 1813 (the Slavery Abolition Act 1833 freed any remaining slaves in the colonies), Africans make up the second largest ethnic group. Firstly, Lammy should be lambasting the Netherlands, not Britain; secondly, it’s a blatant self-serving grift.
