  1. I’m in two minds about home schooling. On the one hand, I’ve spoken with parents who have chosen to home educate, providing a full curriculum and exams usually because they could afford tutors or, certainly in one case, because many in the family were teachers anyway. However, I’ve also spoken with parents who pulled their children from school for various reasons (some quite spurious, imo) and didn’t bother with teaching much. These parents often want their 16-yo to continue in education because Child Benefit… My ha’penny’s worth: homeschooling is a viable option only if it’s more closely monitored than it is. All those claiming mainstream education is indoctrination should be challenging that and not getting sidetracked!
