  2. I know of a Unison branch which proudly announced reps had negotiated an extra day of paid leave for 27th December. The firm shuts down for two weeks at Christmas. Staff get full holiday pay as part of a pre-existing deal. Unison could never negotiate its way out of a wet paper bag, so expect tantrums instead.

  3. Redundancy package negotiations… It’s not so much about joining Unison in order to throw a hissy, it’s more about the inevitable attempt to increase the pay-off. Can’t say I blame individuals doing this, but they could end up much worse off if Unison leads them into unpaid strike action and they’ll still be paying Council Tax themselves.
