Black History Month is a month of unrelenting propaganda about how current black people continue to be the victims of white people because some ancestors might have been enslaved in America... oh, and a bit about European sugar cane. That’s it. Nothing about the history of Africa, ancient or modern, which is a fascinating study, especially in regard to science and politics, because that’d raise issues contradicting the approved narrative. No doubt, within the next hundred years, all history will be reviewed, twisted and obliterated to cater to vicariously hurt feelings. It’s beyond 1984.

@Fotter technically, no. Serfs worked farmland to produce food sufficient to feed the land-owners and those land-owners offered protection, justice and a strip of land for every serf to cultivate their own food (or additional food, depending on the type of demesne). They were not slaves, but part of a feudal system meant to ultimately maintain the state. That's why the Black Death prompted various social reforms: there were not enough serfs to go round.

@Fotter serfdom is not slavery; the serfs were not taken in raids and transported for sale to the highest bidder, they and their children becoming property. There is a difference. The real issue you raise is that of the inhumanity of the rich and powerful treating other human beings of their own race as subservient things. That's not slavery but tyranny.
