Me: I blame Ronan - an outlaw at the time - for really escalating Kree-Skrull tensions into war, especially as he was planning on ‘devolving’ all life on Earth, which he wanted to use as his war platform. Although, to be fair, the Skrulls were already threatening to blow up Hala, the Kree home world.

@davidgantenbein9362 which he why the line ‘he loves you’ was used many times by the Secret Invasion Skrulls; they were on a jihad led by Veranke.

Kl’rt is one of those Marvel hero-villains, like Thanos and Dr. Doom; they have a fluctuating moral compass, just like many humans do, although obviously on a grander scale.

All Skrulls are shapeshifters, an obvious survival trait. Kl’rt, the original Super-Skrull, was given the powers of the Fantastic Four by bionic engineering; he developed into a complex character, although the very 1960s name stuck. There are actually multiple Super-Skrulls, some of whom received artificial genetic mutations, copying up to four superpowers at once, so the single powers seen in Secret Invasion are one-off builds. Sadly, I doubt we’ll get the Skrull Beatles… There you go. I’m a nerd; bite me.

@marhawkman303 spot on. Then the Skrulls came for Earth.

The Skrulls in the MCU are not the real Marvel Skrulls. Those ‘tested’ the Cotati (look ‘em up) and the barbaric Kree to decide which should represent Hala in their Empire, and the latter basically ended up massacring the lot. The Kree then used captured Skrull tech to advance their civilisation. The Kree are the aggressors, but Skrull arrogance started it. The war’s a long one, but Ronan reignited open hostilities when he tried to use Earth, which sits equidistant between the two factions, as his war base. In the MCU: your guess is as good as mine, given the current Woke mindset that there’s neither good nor evil.

@marhawkman303 but Ronan was an outlaw when he pushed the very open Kree-Skrull war to start. He dragged Earth into it although, if I remember right, there was some Shi’ar tension, too.

@marhawkman303 not the movie - the comics, the proper storyline.

That ain’t Nick Fury - soldier, legend and super-spy (c’mon, he’s like Sergeant Rock x James Bond) - by any stretch of the imagination! He’s got to be a Skrull himself, just under really deep cover. Or a Dire Wraith? Did you know they were of Skrull origin and can suck out the memories with the brains of those they duplicate? Nasty pieces of work. They even attacked S.H.I.E.L.D…. Makes you wonder if the writers have something clever up their sleeves… but I don’t think they’re that clever…

They can’t. The original Super-Skrull received bionic implants; later types did the same until genetic manipulation became a thing. There are some mutants - like Mimic or Synch - who can duplicate superpowers, though.
