  2. @ not likely! The House of Lords scrutinises legislation, and holds the Commons to account. It cannot stops the government making laws, but it can put the brakes on bad ones by advising reconsideration, which could take up to a year. It can also advise if a new law is contrary to other current laws; again, the governent could ignore the advice. Come to think about it. Starmer being a King's Counsel (K.C.) might be a bit problematic right now...
