Framing the pater familias as a benign figure who knows what’s best for his family is a concept of male dominated society and women were, for centuries, raised to not question this even in the most dire circumstances. Naturally, many women did not support suffrage because they’d have to challenge the status quo and, in some (if not many) cases, face at least a ‘correctional’ beating. The ladies of the Temperance Movement were heroines.

  7. “Toxic masculinity” is behaviour detrimental to men, women and children - society as a whole - rather than masculinity in itself being toxic, which seems to have become the modern definition. In response to this perceived attack on all men, we hear the term “toxic femininity”. This actually means women giving up their own mental and physical needs to sustain the needs of others and is, in fact, a Patriarchal concept! Now, about “survival of the fittest…”

  8. The Palestine intifada of 1987 gave this extreme Sunni group a base of operations. I’ll bet my cotton socks that the Shi’as weren’t and aren’t too happy with this… if Palestine still has Shi’as or any who’ll openly declare they are.

  9. Considering what happened to the members of the Left who helped Hamas to power, one wonders why Western turkeys are happily voting for Christmas. PS: the major difference is sectarian: minority Sunni espousing violence vs majority Shi’as often being victims of that violence.
