You won't kose those contribtuions IF yiou reture here, although they may be work naff all and we now have the dubious NEST pension scheme in place. You should be able to get straight answers to the above from a UK financial adviser, and these people tend only to get paid if they secure you a financial sdrvices product - like a loan, insurance or a mortgage, so you may be able to get good, free advice.
