  1.  @TheWitchInTheWoods  Thank you. I must get myself to more remnants some day. I see little sign of this changing. I am staggered that we are so content to subsidise already wealthy people to own and maintain uplands as deforested wastelands and to make marginal sheep farming slightly profitable. It's silly.

  2. I did visit Chatsworth many years ago. The guide pointed out a stand of trees art the edge of the estate ... and said they were part of Sherwood Forest when it extended that far. I say this because it's hard to imagine how much we've lost.
