(5:19) --> (5:27) I would challenge her to back up her statement. Her words are hard to believe. When foreigners are interviewed, they keep saying how hard it is to establish relationships with native Japanese. It is so hard to break the tatemae mask. The culture of Japan is drastically different, and many Japanese do not know how to deal with foreigners. Most of the time, foreigners make mistakes and do not have a good grasp of Japanese. Of course, shady characters in Japan further complicates relations. In this video, Connor frustratingly tells us his experiences of Japanese people who only used him to practice English (0:17). Worse, Coralie detailed her experience being used as an accessory to brag about(0:53). Should we foreigners assume all Japanese are fake and are out to use us? Never! There are plenty of good folks in Japan like Shogo, Natsuki, Ryotaro, Paolo, Meshida, Lemi, and of course Nobita. Just as the vast majority of folks in Japan are decent people, the majority of foreigners are not there to bang every pretty girl. Hell most of us cannot hold a candle to Tom Cruise or Leonardo Dicaprio. We are not extremally charming and can be total otakus at times. What we all have in common is our joy of Japan and the desire to get to know people like Nobita better.
