My 5 key takeaways
0) Identity matters. You can't expect to abuse "Sanatan" and not backfire. BJP will make it viral no matter where and by whom
0) "North vs South" is another bad idea along the same lines as "Chowkidar Chor hai".
1) Return to "normal" politics. The wannabe Alphas -> KCR, Baghel, and Gehlot have been brought to the ground. No "neta" is a god to the voter. Freebies are a shortcut to power when you are in the opposition but not a strategy for retention. There is no substitute for visible development.
2) "Congress mukt Bharat" is not going to happen. It was a BJP slogan but a task for the Congress. The UPA 2 anger against INC is over.
3) This was a local leader election. Modi and Rahul were making guest appearances, but the main stars were Shivraj, Raman Singh, Revnath, and Raje.
4) Congress needs clarity. The Caste census, soft Hindutva, and Mohabbat ki dukaan are gimmicks and not sound tactics. Laughing at "Vishwaguru" is akin to spitting at the sky. Modi presents a vision, but Congress only presents Rahul, who is INCOMPETENT. The "panauti" jibe was a peek into how easily Rahul gets unnerved. What works for Modi does not work for Rahul. He remains a big reason for BJP's victory.
5) It might be a sweep but 2024 is far from a done deal. BJP is not error-free. Telangana was a blunder. However, the BJP is very agile. They learn their lessons and quickly correct them. Karnataka defeat was a blessing in disguise.

If BJP wants to win 2029, it MUST
Change - The whole cabinet including Rajnath Singh and Nirmal Sitharaman and perhaps even Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Amit Malvia (Couldn't fight the social media propaganda), Bhajanlal Sharma, Mohan Yadav (Don't be blindsided by 29-0, the CM has no pan state appeal and the caste equations don't favor him), Pramod Sawant, Fadnavis (Good man but lacks the caste credentials necessary for Maha) and N. Biren Singh.
Don't Change - Yogi (He deserves a second chance)
Review - Caste census demand and Agniveer. Caste census needs to happen and the Creamy layer criteria needs to be implemented. Best to preempt the opposition.
Remedy - Shivraj Singh Chauhan for the rural Bharat and Modi must now reward his key vote bank i.e. the middle class Hindus. The Muslim outreach and "pasmanda" nonsense was a total FLOP. Reality check for Modi. Also, Telugu states, Odisha, and Bihar deserve special reward for making a Modi 3.0 possible.

Maha is my state, and I assure you we will not betray the ones who brought Lord Shri Ram back to Ayodhya. It was a Maratha dream, and we made many attempts, but we lost in Panipat. You can expect 35+ for NDA. Karnataka was also almost 100% last time. They lost only one seat. Also, the BJP is always much stronger in Lok Sabha in Karnataka. In TS, they might gain a couple more (perhaps even displace TRS). I think the BJP might not increase more than the 303 it got last time. However, in a country of Hindus, if our greatest triumph and return of our most revered deity, Prabhu Shri Ram, cannot get Ram bringers 400+, then really shame on us Hindus.

Actually, the British genuinely believed in the ridiculous MARTIAL RACE THEORY. Lord Roberts was its architect. It was not just incorporating vanquished forces. They genuinely considered tall, fair, blue-eyed individuals to make better soldiers (not just as warriors but also discipline-wise). Hence, Pathans, Rajputs, Sikhs, Gurkhas and Marathas were their preferred stock. The Indian army was reformed in 1956, but British elements remained. Even in the current scenario, the North has more representation in the army. That said, one needs to understand that the rest of India has had better economic opportunities in other fields, and the army is not the sole benchmark of patriotism.

I get the feel that, 2024-29, if it happens, will be the BREAK or MAKE term for the BJP. Either the party will sink under its own weight or the crop of new leaders like Annamalai, Yogi, Fadnavis (sadly, a pale shadow of his former self), and Bandi Sanjay will take the party to new heights. A strong Modi euphoria, discredited opposition and a potent Hindutva ideology cannot insulate the party beyond a point. BJP is far from being the Congress of the 1950-89. In fact, another 2014 and 2019 like COLLAPSE will force the Congress to implement structural changes. If the party faces another rout, the Gandhis would have some serious questions to answer.

Another important thing to consider is the decline in internal chaos. Insurgencies, Terrorism, and Naxalism are on the decline. For external threats, we have MAD. In fact, MAD, in a modern context, wouldn't just be Nagasaki-Hiroshima-like incineration, it will also be an ECONOMIC BLOODBATH. Of course, we cannot take NATIONAL SECURITY for granted, but with Pak in shambles and China predisposed in a proxy cold war with the US (although I find the commentary problematic, China is too dependent on the US to actually challenge it), India can take a little breather.

This report is incomplete and hardly qualifies as an analysis. Did the original estimation of 56,000 vehicles daily include traffic from the Navi Mumbai airport, Pune expressway, and the Shirdi-Worli elevated corridor? If yes, the current traffic load cannot be deemed a shortfall. If not, then the pricing is WRONG. With 22,000 vehicles daily at Rs 250, the revenue is only 55 lakhs or 180 crores yearly. Now, at Rs 125, if they had to achieve the original target of 56,000, then the daily turnover would have been 70 lakhs or about 250 crores a year.

@vineetshinde9969 Indian Govt and, for that matter, the whole world would already have been keeping tabs on the situation. In any case, while the happenings in Pak are a concerning situation, it's unlikely to evolve into a refugee situation. A refugee crisis is triggered due to either internally driven ethnic conflict or an externally sponsored Syria-like power struggle. A power vacuum is UNLIKELY in Pak. At worst, it will break again like in 1971, but crossing the border seems a far-off thing. Also, where would they arrive, and what would they do? Punjab is densely populated, and border areas of both Guj and Raj are inhospitable. Indians won't be welcoming, either.

DK Sir, there are a few things to consider before writing the "obituary" of the INC. Firstly, although INC has just about half the MLAs of the BJP, the third highest party, the TMC has about one-third of that of the INC. It took herculean efforts from the Gandhi sibling to get AAP to number 4 on the MLA count list but even at 150 MLAs, AAP does not really count for much. AAP is simply a MEDIA HYPE. Secondly, BJP will ensure that INC-MUKT-BHARAT fails. Overall, while the THERE IS NO ALTERNATIVE TO MODI is a reality, THERE IS NO ALTERNATIVE FOR INC is also a reality. Unless an alternative to INC emerges, the Gandhis basically have IMPUNITY. AAP has NO STRATEGY. Both Delhi and Punjab were handed over to AAP by the INC and BJP too was compliant with it which is unlikely to happen in Gujarat. In either case, Kejriwal will need at least a decade to go national.

@libshastra UPA was a disaster. However, I do credit MNREGA for their 2009 victory. Without MNREGA, they couldn't have gotten 20 MPs from UP. In 2009, the BJP didn't have a narrative for the rural crowd. But 2009-2014 was just a piling up of miseries. They lost "connect" with the people. Even today, Rahul and his team are more focused on Modi than people. Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, Sharad Pawar, Santosh Mohan Dev, Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi, Jaypal Reddy, Pranab Mukherjee, etc served in MMS-1 cabinet. These ground leaders were replaced with "technocrats" and "motormouths" like Jairam Ramesh, Kapil Sibal, Chidambaram, and other idiots. The organization got infected with the "Rahul lobby" of KC Venugopal. The cult has only grown with Shrinate, Ragini Nayak, and other useless/rootless nobodies. Of course, instead of ranting about all this, I should only say the name "Rahul Gandhi". He CANN'T feel the pulse of the people. There is an excitement to impress the minds not imprint the heart.

@patmclaughlin107 I also fear the same thing.

Headline management for December 3? Well, DK, there is no point in guessing when your prediction rate is not even 10% accurate. December 3 is just next week. BJP will decide then. Also, when is it ever "curtains down" for anyone in Politics? Rahul Gandhi is the master of rejections, yet he is the master of Congress. Everyone involved, be it Shivraj, Diggi, Kamalnath, Raje, Baghel, Raman, Singh Deo, Pilot, or Gehlot, has a point to prove. Even a defeat is not the end of the story. Elections happen every 5 years.

@raghavendravishwas5929 If by Autocracy you mean a system with one person holding absolute power, then NEWS FLASH, If anything, BJP is the least autocratic. They have a far more accountable internal mechanism. INC, RJD, TMC, SP, DMK, SS, and others are all FEUDAL parties whose actions are subject to the whims of their leaders. AAP and JDU are also one-man parties. Politics is about comparison. If you wish to throw around such words, do some comparative research.

Advani laid the foundations of a castless Hindu society, Modi took it to the distant corners of the country, while the seldom acknowledged warriors like J Sai Deepak, Harsh Madhusudan, Saniyal, Sampath, AIM, Ranganathan countered and fought the LEFT tooth and nail to make the much-maligned faith "cool" to millennials and GenZ. It is still a work-in-progress, and many problems exist, but the future of Hindu unity looks bright. At least, a stong liberal-progressive Hindu order has been ESTABLISHED.

My 5 key takeaways
0) Identity matters. You can't expect to abuse "Sanatan" and not backfire. BJP will make it viral no matter where and by whom 0) "North vs South" is another bad idea along the same lines as "Chowkidar Chor hai".

@anirudhhariharan9749 Firstly, he DOES NOT eat beef. Secondly, it DOES NOT matter. None of the sacred Hindu texts - the Geeta, the Mahabharata, the Ramayana, the Vedas, or the Upanishads explicitly forbid beef eating. Cows got their storied status on account of their economic importance. Anyways, the specifics DO NOT matter. For many Hindus, cows continue to be sacred. It is desirable to not eat Beef and very much possible to adhere to this rule in India but abroad it is very difficult to ensure a strict "no beef" policy. In Europe and the US, Beef, pork, and chicken would be served in the same restaurant. In such cases, only faith is enough to make you Hindu.

Shankar Bhai, In India OVERCONCENTRATION of power, is NOT unique to BJP. After so much fanfare of internal democracy, Khargeji has been a "Twitter President" only. BJP, AAP, JDU, DMK, ADMK, TRS, TMC, and RJD have competent and effective central leadership while INC's leadership is dull and question mark. BJP's strength comes from its pan-India reach post-2014.

@Aditya_0211 The hollowness of your arguments is appalling. NY, Berlin, London, and Paris are very old cities with a unique history and evolution. Bombay was a group of uninhabited islands that were initially shaped by Goans like Dr Bhau Daji Lad. Parsis and Gujratis turned it into a business center. Marathis made up the workforce. The influx of North Indians and Madrasis was a lot later. Hindi emerged as the dominant language, not out of policy but consensus (or rather lack of consensus on a working language).
Today, Industries have shifted out of Mumbai. Yet, it houses the headquarters of all major Indian companies. These HQs involve high-paying jobs requiring the best of India's talents. You cannot put language restrictions on such jobs. Also, Mumbai houses Bollywood, whose working language of which is Hindi.
In conclusion, the language/region debate about "protecting" identity should not turn into destroying other identities. There is enough space for everything to coexist and perpetuate. If you are so "reformist," then campaign to destroy things like caste discrimination and Muslim fundamentalism.

@indiamusically , I am very comfortable seeing the Ayodhya King sitting on his rightful throne. You talk about things being taken in a "good" spirit, but are they being taken in a "good" spirit? Mira road stone pelters belonged to which religion? Kashmiri pundits were massacred by which religion? Was it 500 years ago? Many from the Left are now singing the tune of the Supreme Court verdict, saying that there was NO TEMPLE DESTRUCTION. In reality, the court concluded the presence of a temple based on archaeological evidence and records of travelers (one of whom was a Jesuit priest who wrote about a Mosque built by destroying a Vishnu temple in Ayodhya by Babar in 1767). A temple that was conclusively there in the 12th century was not there by the 16th century. Now, I don't ask you to read between the events of the 12th century and 16th century but rather implore you to extrapolate the original logic (where they ask us to prove the destruction by Babar) and ask Muslims if they will give us back all the current Mosque lands that were conclusively built by razing temples? There are many with irrefutable evidence.
A Hindu Rashtra means nothing to me, but a Ramrajya to me in "practical terms" is RESPECT BEGETS RESPECT.
Lastly, you don't have to go so gaga over Hinduism. Not all is jolly about my religion. Intentionally or not, Hinduism did get corrupted. That is why we have the concept of 4 Yugas and a system of progressive corruption of "Dharma". In the current yug it is only standing on TRUTH.
However, my Hindu religion is open to debate, discussion, and incorporating new ideas and discarding old ones. Are Muslims willing to incorporate new ideas? Will they acknowledge bad ideas and reform their book? These questions are important because the answers to these questions will determine their place in a "Hindu Rashtra" (which still means nothing to me). You are entitled to DISAGREE. For me, the discussion is OVER.

@rajeevgangal542 Get your facts right. An MNC cannot directly invest in India in most sectors. Hence, McD, Toyota, KFC, and others have Indian partners. Partnering with an MNC is not easy. One needs deep pockets or the ability to get finance for the capital. Hence, all partnering will be exclusively done with the likes of Vedanta, Ambani, Adani, Tata, Birlas, Jindals etc, whether you like it or not. Also, Dassault-Reliance Aerospace Limited is a 51:49 JV with Dassault and Ambani. It is only for maintenance and manufacturing parts for aircraft. They are NOT building any Rafales. India got Rafales directly from French Govt in fly-away condition.

@PK-tt5kk Dude, 1/3rd of Rajasthan is nearly 1.5 lakh sq km or 1.5*10^11 sq m. Even at an impossibly ridiculous rate of $10 per sq m, we would require nearly $20 billion just for land acquisition. We might not even get such a huge patch of land but even if we do, expect our politicians to multiply the project cost by any multiples of 10. I am not sure about the accuracy of my figures but I am just trying to explain the gist of the problem.
Since you have done the research, I will NOT dispute any of your inferences. Personally, I am very bullish on the future of renewables esp Solar and Green Hydrogen. However, if you expect Govt to drive such projects then you are betting on the wrong horse.
One of my neighbors has installed solar panels. It cost him about Rs 10 lakhs. Although I've never asked I think it is powering at least 20% of their electricity needs. Perhaps with a larger budget, it can be scaled up. If more and more people do it, we'll have Sun becoming a major partner in our energy infrastructure. But these things will take time and commercial success is not a guarantee. Also, there are other issues like the availability of sunlight during the monsoon season. We are hoping for the prices to go down, but if demand picks up and supply goes down due to the limited availability of components, the equilibrium will shift to higher prices. Also, you have ignored the fact that Govt subsidies are largely responsible for the current surge in demand for solar panels.

@pradeepdeep318 Minority votes never get divided. They always go to BJP's strongest rival. 18 in WB, 23 in Maha, 65 in UP, 17 in BH, 8 in Odisha, 4 in TL, 0 In AP. That's a total of 135 in 2019. Besides their allies secured another 40 (i.e SS and JDU). It's 175 out of 300. Even in worse shape, BJP can manage 100 from these states, and in a straight INC vs BJP which is about 250 seats, BJP beats them 90% of the time but assuming it manages 70% BJP still holds 175. A total of 275 is enough to form Govt. Overall BJP is a 200+ seat party and with Amit Shah at the helm, jugaad is NOT DIFFICULT. Congress needs to go or at least Rahul needs to go for challenging the BJP. Either the Congress must strengthen itself or it must accept a diminished role for itself and let someone like Sharad Pawar handle the affairs of 2024.

@BharatThatIsIndia History? Dude do you even have any basic degree let alone history?
Again, the NPA question was cleared by the experts of the show but of course, you are "I am always RIGHT" (And you accuse Modi of being nhilist). Tell me, what was Radhika and TCA's reply to your query? Did they not reply to you on the show? Why hide that part? Are you too embarrassed to admit that you could not understand the answer? "One Balance Sheet to another" it seems, like you know what's even a Balance Sheet. Every Industy has companies that make losses, banking is NO different. The only difference here is that while manufacturing companies can recognize their losses immediately, Banking waits for it to crystalize (given their longer cycles). Nevertheless, everything happens by the book i.e. the rules set by RBI. Business fails and people don't pay their loans back. From over 10% to mere 1% NPAs - that's the change RBI brought in (I am not even giving credit to Modi Govt because you dislike him so much). In any case, no point explaining to you.
Also, its free country. Don't need your permission to enjoy or comment. Unemployment is a problem for many qualified people, but not for you though if you are unemployed.

The audience Q was whether the judgment on the Places of Worship Act will be the defining legacy of the new CJI, which has only 1 one-year term (Context: An Indian CJI can serve only up to the age of 65. The current Chief Justice, Mr Khanna is already 64. He got promotion late). The other Q was whether the government was planning to remove the Places of Worship Act (Context: The Places of Worship Act states that the status of a mosque or a temple would be considered from 1947. This Act was passed after the demolition of Babri Masjid, which was originally built by demolishing the Ram Temple. I'll digress a bit here to inform you that a Ram Temple now stands at the site. It was constructed after favorable judgment from a legal battle initiated in 1885. Do not let anyone fool you. It is legally established that a temple stood at Ayoydhya. The place is sacred to Hindus as it is considered the birthplace of a revered deity, Lord Ram. In its judgment, the court did not comment on who demolished the temple. It is not hard to fill this void with a little bit of common sense, given the fact that 800 AD to 1400 AD was a tough period for India as it witnessed a brutal Islamic invasion. Coming back to the main issue, the Act had many problems. There were already multiple legal battles about several disputed "places of worship" even before this act. The current Govt is led by the BJP. It's a Hindu nationalist party).
The response from the speaker was basically vague. He only responded to the first Q and stated that legal matters take time and he'll have to wait and see how things work out. (My opinion: The debate on the act ignited after the former CJI's oral observation wherein he said archaeological surveys unearthing the history of a place "may not necessarily fall foul" of the Places of Worship Act. Now, you need to understand three things - 1)It is not possible to reclaim everything that was lost to history. Even Israel is not constructing the Temple of Solomon at Al Aqsa. 2) However, should that stop us from deciphering the history of a particular place? In a just world, it should not, but the elements involved here are too volatile to control. India is a deeply religious country. Personally, I am happy with the Ram Temple, and I do not support other Hindu claims. However, there are certain illegal possession of Temples by you-know-who which must be returned back to us. These were not demolished structures. They were simply taken by just claiming and entering like idiots. One of those is the Sambhal Temple dispute, which triggered this discussion.
PS: The commentator deliberately avoided a straight answer. (Hint: Avoid Samuel Paty fate)

@NINJA-lq4cx Doing away with red tapes, less Babu interference, easy procurement, lower taxes, investment in R&D and human capital (or at least incentives for firms to invest in these things), prompt clearances, reduction in fuel prices, big-ticket financing, streamlined system for clearance (one-window-protocol), environment laws in sync with reality and nation's problem and NOW WESTERN COPY PASTE. In addition, at Govt level -> address revenue leakages.

China is a huge market for Hollywood movies, Western luxury goods, automobiles, and even agricultural products. That is why all these fancy acronyms like I2U2, QUAD, and some imaginary Indian Ocean NATO are just malarkey. There is no COLD war. In fact, there is too much "monetary" global warming. China won't wage war against India, but it will try to ensure that 1) India never achieves parity with China, 2) Russia forever remains under its thumb, 3) the Pak army becomes an extra battalion, 4) Pacific nations know the "big daddy" of the region.

@vijaydinanathchavan7644 They couldn't have refused Nitish's 2017 offer for two reasons 1) 2019 Lok sabha polls. Bihar has 42 seats which they would have lost 2) Nitish was still relevant back then.
Bihar is the last remaining bastion of "Mandal politics" with sharp divisions. BJP's core voter nucleus is 25%, RJD has 31% and JDU has 16%. Thus, the 30% floating vote becomes crucial. It sided with the JDU-BJP in 2005 and 2010. In 2015, Lalu made it one-way traffic by exploiting Mohan Bhagwat's ill-timed reservation statement to puncture the BJP-LJP alliance. It's a very caste-sensitive state. In fact, the tagline of the 80s, 90s, and even early 2000s was "Vikas nahi, Samman Chahiye".
Post-Covid, the economic situation of Bihar has deteriorated. It was a cheap exporter of labor. Now, these laborers are back home without a job and they are angry with Nitish. If it weren't for the BJP and Modi's popularity, Nitish would have lost in 2020. Nitish 16% vote block is up for grabs but BJP does not have strong local leadership in Bihar to stake claim to it.

@DKSingh-wf8tn There's more than one way to skin a cat, DK Sir. Logic dies at the altar of emotions. Thus, a sensitive issue like an inter-state dispute would require tact and stealth, NOT Putinisque aggression. As an e.g., let me take you back to 2014. Belagavi was not always "Belagavi". In fact, I have grown up hearing only "Belgaum", the city's old name. Modi had won this colossal mandate and had also swept Maha (with saheb's blessings). Amidst this, Siddha threw the bouncer of the name-change and the most-powerful PM since Indira actually ducked and approved. At the time, Siddha was fueling Kannad sub-nationalism. The same leaders who were on mute in 2014 are flexing muscles today. Like Babri, this issue, too, shall be settled at the SC's doorstep ONLY. Until then, you will have minor outbursts once every few years.

@pardhumurali1206 Only 2% in India pay taxes. Farm income is exempt from tax. Almost every self-employed hides his income. Govt does NOT HAVE ENOUGH MONEY. This year the situation is even more pathetic. GoI's total revenue collection is around $340 billion and expenditure is around $430 billion. Welfare schemes cost money but they fetch votes. At least under Modi, most welfare schemes have been largely corruption-free. Other aspects of his governance were largely disappointing on the economic front. Agro reforms are the first good reform to come out since the Indo-US nuclear deal of the UPA era but see the result. As to India importing products are concerned, I strongly disagree with your assessment. If other countries are able to produce corn and oranges at a cheaper rate then we should NOT be blaming them rather be asking ourselves that why are we not able to do so? or Why are we even producing oranges and corn if we can't be competitive? Of course, the other aspect is technology. Most of these countries that export fruits or crops to India use GM seeds but Indian farmers are not allowed because NGOs start protesting. As to Bihar farmers fetching poor rates, I don't think it is much of a mystery. It is a state where the philosophy is to become collectively poor rather than collectively prospering. Much has improved in Bihar since the 90s but much more is desired. I do not mean to offend our Bihari citizens but I am only quoting the reality. Going by your figures, I see that someone is gaming the market by procuring corn at 900 and selling it at 1800 without even getting involved in any of the agricultural hard work. These reforms will exactly tackle these problems. I am tired of this notion of "evil Corporates". It is the stupidest thing ever. Corporates account for nearly a 1/3rd of India's tax revenue (Rs 6.1 Trillion). Don't get me wrong they are no saints and often involved in tax scams and other heartless activities, but they are run by very smart people. The whole idea that Corporates will cheat farmers or exploit them is completely bogus. $60 Billion worth Mukesh Ambani is unlikely to hassle over a few thousand with farmers. Corporates have billions of dollars at stake and hence would want a reliable supplier. If they indulge in stupidity they lose a reliable and trustworthy supplier. I have personally seen suppliers of MRF, Maruti, or even Tatas prosper. I do not deny that there are problems. One key issue is the delay in payments and Corporates seek strict quality control and may reject the product if it is not as per specifications. Therefore, Govt must set up a SEBI like the association to see that the contract is honored. Otherwise, also Corporates have a reputation at stake. A farmer committing suicide in the name of a Corporate house is not the kind of publicity that any corporate would want.

@Surya_teja There are multiple things to consider here. Q1) Let's start with the basics. Nobody would acquire company X at its entire mcap of Y. For listed companies, 33%+ is enough for control (very loose definition. Just for a general sense. There are other qualifiers for control) & 50%+ is considered ownership. For, e.g., Promoter ownership in both of Adani's cement acquisitions is at 50% (ACC) and 65%(Ambuja) only. While you may not acquire firms at the MCAP, you still need to pay a hefty premium over the stock price (usually the case but not always, NDTV was actually acquired at a discount). So in the ACC-Ambuja case, Adani paid $10 Billion for companies whose entire MCAP does not exceed $15 billion. The extra amount paid over the share price goes as "Goodwill" in the balance sheet of Adani group acquiring it. This acquisition was financed using Bonds. So Adani group companies will have to repay money to these bondholders. This is not ACC or Ambuja's loan. They don't have to pay for their own acquisition.
2) In case X goes bankrupt, X's lenders will take over Y. It's the same thing as normal foreclosures. If somebody doesn't pay their loan, banks take possession of their assets like a house, car, etc. X being a health company, will be reauctioned and sold again.
I sense your troubles. It has been repeatedly flagged that the Adani group is expanding too fast. Ambuja & ACC are safe, and it has been clarified today that Adani group has not pledged their shares for any other loans (If they had, it would have been a massive fraud because they are already given as collateral somewhere else). IMO, the NDTV acquisition is a total waste of money. Media hasn't been generating money anywhere in the world. Streaming services have bruised them badly. The Hindenburg Report is good and timely. It will slow down Adani's expansion and will revert them to focus on their core businesses.
Lastly, with all due respect, "But is there any company in the world that can grow indefinitely and exponentially?" is a flawed question. "Going Concern" and "Business entity" are among the two fundamental assumptions in accounting. Accountants always assume that the firm will continue in perpetuity. In fact, if there is reason to believe that this assumption might not hold, Auditors are morally bound to disclose it in the audit report. As to exponential growth, there will always be periods of slack and rapid rise. Overall, Many firms, like Microsoft, Apple, etc., have delivered year-after-year growths. But even they are at a price multiple of close to 30. Before this scandal, Adani was at 400. It was never sustainable. According to my valuation, the share price of Adani should not be more than Rs 900, so a lot more correction is required.
PS: As a side note, Adani's debts, while high cumulatively, are within manageable limits based on ratio indicators). Only Adani Green, which has a debt-to-equity ratio of over 2, is at a dangerous level. nevertheless, in absolute terms, it's just one cheque from Mr. Adani.

@BharatThatIsIndia Macrosutra episode "What is driving Banking sector's dream run: Profits up, NPAs down" at 6:00 minutes we have one low-life, probably fit for nothing individual, a total loser, the kind who has nothing but cr*p filled in his head is asking about Banking turned into "hera pheri". However, it is the answer given by the panelists that is important not the dimwit asking the question.
The judgment on Modi will be delivered on June 4. You need not wait long for it. Anything is possible, but its not about Modi. He already got two full terms. If the people decide he has to go, he shall go and if they decide he has to stay he will take oath for a 3rd time nothing complex there. You answer about your "hera pheri" instead of trying another meek herapheri.
Also, "insecure" means subject to fears, doubts, etc.; not self-confident or assured. Not remembering and denying is a sign of insecurity. An assured person would never do such a thing.

Hey Apoorva, Thanks for picking up my question. I honestly thought you wouldn't on account of its length and inherent complexities. Thanks, Shekhar, for giving a good overall view. I hope your views reach our policymakers. I have a different view on the North-South development variations. North's slack doesn't have to be viewed as a NEGATIVE but rather contextualized for a historical setting. Specializations are the economic equivalent of evolution and adaptations. North was always more agrarian, while the South, with its less fertile lands & less perennial water resources, was much more eager to adopt industrialization. The % of agriculture in India's GDP has dropped drastically, which explains the South's relative prosperity. Hence, I think pouring more money into the North won't solve our long-standing problems. With its already well-developed industrial infra, the South could fetch us more bang for the buck. We can develop Human capital in the North to feed the industries of the South. The USA was practically built on migration. At least, in my mind, this makes a lot of sense. Of course, I do not recommend alienation of any part. Just a more focussed approach.

@RajasNadkarni Changing her won't change a dime. The problem lies with our control-freak bureaucracy. UPSC might be India's most challenging exam, but it certainly doesn't produce the brightest lot. It's a classic case of half knowledge being more dangerous than no knowledge. IAS officers don't take any feedback and seldom attempt to streamline the system (on the rare occasions they actually do, they make the process more complex). Currently, NFRA, an IAS-run statutory body, is locked in a tussle with ICAI over accounting standards and reporting. Now, who among a CA or an IAS would know better about accounting?
The same is happening with taxes esp GST. The IAS lobby doesn't understand business, yet it thinks they are the most competent to tax businesses.
I wouldn't give clean chit to the FM either. She could have taken a broader view, especially from the Industry body, instead of solely relying on bureaucrats. Nevertheless, none of the FMs before her have ever done so except maybe VP Singh.

@Savi3_Skeptic Yahweh and Allah refer to the same concept of a singular, supreme God. The theological frameworks of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam differ, particularly in how they understand God’s nature, revelations, and the relationships with humankind. Christianity introduces the doctrine of the Trinity, which is unique to the Christian understanding of God. The Holy Trinity is not the same as the Hindu concept of Tridev/Trimurti. The Dharmic and Abrahamic faiths are fundamentally different.
If you go by history, Allah and Yahweh are the same. If you go by faith, you can cook your own beliefs. FYI, Allah is actually the Arabic word for "God" like the English word for "God". The 99 names that you referred are actually the names of Gods. You will not find "Yahweh" among those 99 because these are two separate languages - Hebrew and Arabic.

Recent Netflix Mega hits = Moneyheist (Language= SPANISH) and Dark (Language = GERMAN)
One of the Highest-grossing Movie in 2019 = Wandering Earth (Language = MANDARIN) $700 M
Fastest growing language in America = SPANISH
Most watched News channels in India are the HINDI news channels and then the regional language news channels.
Most spoken conversational language = HINDI, TELUGU, MARATHI, TAMIL, and BENGALI.
SANSKRIT is often cited as one of the most suited languages for AI and Computer Science.
LEFT is "RIGHT" when they say English is IMPORTANT. BUT WHY? BECAUSE we need staff who can work as a Butlers, Nurses, Teachers, Drivers in western world or work in call centers or KPOs serving the western world. Ever wonder why we are so much "Vedic" in manufacturing? Because Britishers never wanted us to develop those skills. They were producers of goods and India was a loyal customer of those goods. They designed an education system that never encouraged innovation but only instilled obedience.
I Love English and I think it is a great language. We must not be nativists and hate everything WEST. Language is just a medium of communication. Considering the progress with Alexa, Siri, and Google voice, We are only a few years away from universal translators. For now, any language will do as long as the end result is a quality product. WE DO NOT NEED ENGLISH, ENGLISH NEEDS US.

@saptarsi7868 Please do NOT feed his delusional cocktail of lies. As I mentioned earlier, Dalit priests are plenty. Gorakhpur temple is just one example. Newer temples have priests from all castes. Temple administrators appoint caretakers. Strictly speaking, they are not "priests" like the ones learned in Vedas, but sometimes "devotion" is the only merit that matters.
Hinduism is rich, inclusive, and contrary to popular belief, the great religion has a well-defined structure. Unlike Christianity and other Abrahamic religions, Hinduism actually promotes the pursuit of knowledge. It holds that "knowledge" is the pathway to the creator. The 4 varnas are a hierarchy indicating the state of mind and not a family of birth.
It is important that we accept that somewhere down the line, our sacred religion got corrupted. It is essentially that we stop defending the indefensible. Bhagwad Gita is the ultimate authority on our religion. It only discusses "Karma" and "Dharma".
We must discard the notion of "hierarchies" among castes. Select pages of texts advocating nonsense like this must also be dismissed. A non-veg eater cannot be called a Brahmin just for bearing a "Trivedi" or "Chaturvedi" surname. How many of these can actually recite even 1/4th of a Veda to deserve such prestigious surnames?
We need reforms, and we need them fast. AP, TN, and Punjab are already hotbeds for evangelists. Maha and Telangana are also witnessing the menace of conversion. If it gains a foothold in North India, our civilization will be lost like the Mayans.
Don't give an inch to fake news peddlers and propagandists. Don't let them use our religion against us.

Not wrong, just incomplete. You got the basic "AB" but missed the "C" and "D". C being conversions and D being drugs. Both have become real menace now and are feeding off each other. SAD got decimated in 2017 on the back of vicious "Udta Punjab" propaganda. Badal family member Manjitia himself was at the center of all attacks. He later filed defamation suits and even won against major publication houses that recklessly sullied his image. Nevertheless, the damage was already done. SAD lost its credibility and people's trust. The Amarinder Govt came in on the promise of making Punjab drug-free in 4 weeks. This was in 2017 and 3 CMs and 1 election later, the problem still persists. Meanwhile, the Conversion activities continued expanding and seeking destitute, Dalit, drug-troubled families feeding them hopes, EU/Canada visa promises, drug de-addiction miracles, and even literally rice bags. Punjab was never the most educated state. Superstition was always there, but the extent of the Dalit-Jat divide somehow got overlooked. The state became a victim of its own success. Jat Sikhs did not share the fruits of success with Dalits. Many are moving away from Hindu-Sikh folds. The Gurudwara Jathedars continue sleeping. Most of the Sikhs simply don't care as they are focussed on settling abroad (same as Hindus of Andhra), leaving the state behind for Evangelists.
Agriculture isn't what it used to be. Productivity has peaked, land holdings have become smaller, the population is mainly skill-less, and most of the agriculture is done by laborers from UP-Bihar, leaving the state's affluent youth with a lot of free time. As the saying goes, "an idle mind is the devil's workshop". Drugs, alcohol, and Canadian dreams are spoiling the youth.
People are aware of the problems. Change is the buzzword. SAD-INC did nothing to change the status quo hence people opted for a newbie like AAP. Yet, despite ridiculous promises, the ultimate delivery has been nothing. The state needs a complete overhaul. Farm laws were actually a step in a positive direction; we all know how that went. Real sad state of affairs. Amritpal's quick rise tells you the extent of disenchantment that the people have with mainstream parties. The implosion of SAD and INC has frustrated the masses. It's been a total collapse of politics and governance. The state itself has become lethargic and offers little hope of redemption.

THE MARKET IS NOT A CASINO. Global regulators are WARY of SPECULATION, aka the BETTING, not any particular practice. Short Selling is NEITHER GOOD NOR BAD. The market is a ZERO SUM GAIN. Somebody has to lose money for someone to make money. Short selling is merely a practice of PRICE DISCOVERY. If you qualify it as GOOD, what about the numerous instances when it has BACKFIRED? Under the Efficient market hypothesis, stock prices are a function of INFORMATION. Everyone has access to the same INFOR. Therefore, markets merely REACT to INFO. Hence, stocks are fairly priced. In the Adani case, MISPRICING was common knowledge. At 400% PE, the collapse was imminent. However, unlike Nikola, which had NO viable product, the Adani group actually has hard assets. The fall was triggered when an American LOUDSPEAKER HIGHLIGHTED the firm's CORPORATE GOVERNANCE WEAKNESSES just by pointing out data from ANNUAL REPORTS. SPECULATION and INVESTING are NOT THE SAME THINGS. Short Selling must not be viewed from just the Adani saga.

@harpreetsinghmann Wheat MSP is about Rs 19,250. The cost of procurement to FCI which includes Mandi fees and Arthiya commission is Rs 27,026. The international price of wheat is Rs 16,400. Thus, making exports unviable. The case with Paddy is similar while the MSP on Rice is very close to international markets i.e. around Rs 29,000, the procurement cost to FCI is Rs Rs 37,000. So don't judge the whole equation only by MSP. Only the MSP portion is received by the farmers but the rest is pocketed by the middlemen. FCI has a total debt of 3 lakh crores and the Govt has to shell out export subsidies to get rid of this surplus esp in the case of sugar which is simply too much in India. (source: MSP website and http://www.businessworld.in/article/The-Perpetual-MSP-Challenge/23-12-2020-357441/)
As to your point about MSP stabilizing the prices -> Yes and No. The procurement on MSP is only 6% and applies only to about 6 crops. I would never recommend doing away with MSP. However, I would recommend producing less wheat and rice and shifting to palm oil and even corn where international prices are much higher. In fact, even that would be a folly. Farmers should be more dynamic and always be on the watch for prices. That is how contract farming would help. Assessing their current situation farmer can decide to enter into two or three-year contracts and agree on a fixed price today for whatever crop they decide. One year later the market price may be more or maybe less but the farmer is assured of his price. Nobody gets hurt as everyone was aware of the contract. Of course, I recommend simplicity and supervision to ensure that farmers are fully aware of all the provisions in the contract.
FREE MARKETS ARE NEVER BAD. BE IT INDIA OR THE US. It can always ensure good prices and get rid of inefficiencies. It is folly to assume that Corporates are BAD. Setting up cold storage infrastructure is a significant cost. Corporates need to balance between these costs, salaries, and a 10%-15% profit margin for themselves. You can't expect them to compromise on their profits. The idea that farmers will get peanuts is merely a speculation. In fact, in the current system, they are getting peanuts as you pointed n your assessment. The market rate for quality Atta is anywhere between Rs 40 to Rs 100 per kg. Quality rice is anywhere between Rs 50 to Rs 200 and Palm oil is about Rs 60 to Rs 120 per liter. These are the various opportunities to encash upon which can only happen once we make farming more efficient and commercial. Right now we have an over-bloated system that is taking FCI to bankruptcy, Govt to bailout packages, and holding almost 60% of India's population for a paltry sum of about15% of GDP.
We all know that MSP cannot increase perpetually. Costs cannot be a justification for the price. Making India an export hub can help improve farming. The Indian middle class won't mind buying caramel flavor popcorns in the movie theatre for Rs 300 or Rs 600 but the moment price of wheat goes from Rs 20 to Rs 22, people start shouting. Agriculture need not be about sloganeering "Jai Kisaan" while ensuring that the "Annadata" never gets out of his poverty. The Indian farmer should not be deprived of modern machinery and technology for farming.

@tomriddle4110 Maybe 7.5% won't cut it this time because for a full majority because Modi is everything about headline hunting. A 10% CAGR would take India past the 4 Trillion dollar mark. If he achieves that then there won't be any end to his drum beating during the election campaign. Also, Anjana, Arnab, Rajat, Sudhir, Deepak, and the gang will amplify it to 100% with the predictable downplaying of Rajdeep-Pagalika, Rubbish, etc which will annoy the voters. But if he fails on the economy then although I may remain loyal to the BJP, however, I am not sure if Hindutva and national security will alone cut it.

@pardeeptandon This is the type of half-baked "gyaan" which is why the Left has lost respect among the mainstream and now remains locked up in its echo chambers. Let me debunk your "myths". Punjab's current problems have nothing to do with Khalistan. In fact, all through the Khalistan movement, it was India's richest state. All its problems are post-2000s. Its wealth became its curse. The lethargy among its youth and overdependence on agriculture led to the state's decline. However, despite the slump, Punjab is amongst India's least unequal states and least poor states. Most people have their own houses. Also, Punjab is 40% Hindu. Its current problems are drugs, Christian missionaries, and the inability to shift away from agriculture.
Sri Lanka has always been a Buddhist country irrespective of the Govt in power. It was an Asian superstar (way ahead of India) until its people elected Gotabaya Rajapaksa. The inexperienced idiot and a dynast nuked their economy. The lesson to be drawn from the Lanka debacle is to NEVER ELECT INEXPERIENCED DYNASTS like Gotabaya and Rahul Gandhi.
Bangladesh is Muslim and, by character, religiously TOXIC. The UN Human Rights Office of High Commissioner (OHCHR) has called it - "a Secular State with a State Religion". The US regularly rebukes Bangladesh for being intolerant of Hindu minorities.
Ram not being a Hindu king is such a puerile argument. Firstly, Ram is a mythological character, but even if he was a historical character, he would have been a Sanatani. The later date coinage of Sanatan Dharma is Hinduism. There is no Brahmanical Hinduism, and there are no multiple Hinduisms. It is ONE Hinduism with multiple FLEXIBILITIES. Even Kabirpantis who do not believe in idol worship identify themselves as Hindus. All things are accepted in Hinduism. There is no "confirmation" or reading of "Kalma" required to become a Hindu.
Lastly, the Hindu movement is not religious but rather cultural; hence, it finds resonance among the masses, which you people will never understand. Among the most economically thriving countries of the world are cultural countries. Tiny Israel leads in global innovation. The wealthy Middle East is opening up without compromising on its cultural ethos. Even many European countries have not given up on their cultural identity. The ones that gave up and allowed space for refugees are now struggling. The US is in trouble because its societal values have collapsed.
BJP is leading the nation well. There are problems that need to be addressed and there are many things that the BJP is not doing right. However, the alternatives have ZERO PLAN and A MAN CHILD whose only qualification is his surname. If it's a mistake then so be it. The bottom line is even if societies are making mistakes. They have the right to commit the mistakes and learn from those mistakes. You can have your "I told you so" when things go awry.

@saikrishnabandi8736 I agree that the Taliban is not a monolith. In fact, there is no central face. In the past, it was Mullah Omar but the current Taliban is very fragmented and possibly froth with groupism. Hence, we hear the talks of an Iran-like system with Ayatollah (Supreme Leader) and the pretense of a Democracy. They don't give jack shit about women's rights or engagement with the international community. For now, they are only putting a show for the WaPos, CNNs, NYTs, BBCs to offer a face-saver for the liberal favorite Biden. Let's not be delusional here. Had the exact same thing unfolded during the Trump presidency, the WaPos and NYTs would have themselves aided the resistance and asked the troops to defy the Commander-in-chief. There is a quid pro quo between the Americans and Taliban where they have agreed not to interfere with each other. Without a doubt, Pak has influence over the Taliban but it may be very curtailed. Anyways, the Taliban wants to rule this time. Unlike Omar who refused to hand over Osama, this new Taliban would have done it in a heartbeat. it does NOT MAKE THEM GOOD GUYS. They are just power-hungry. Let us wait and watch. I don't want India to interfere because if it backfires then it will unnecessarily put the target on our back.

The Hindenburg Report is devoid of evidence and is mostly based on conjectures. Corporate disclosure mishaps are just a few fines at best. Nevertheless, at 400% P/E, the firms were always OVERVALUED (esp Adani Green). Hence, PRICE CORRECTION was imminent. The group has a comfortable pre-tax profit of Rs 17,000 crores. It is in no immediate danger of any kind. The Left's JUBILATION is premature & schadenfreude, while the Right's shoddy defense is laughable. Markets have NO IDEOLOGY and owe loyalty only to MONEY. Overall, a BRUTAL REALITY CHECK with plenty of lessons. First, for Adani Group as it grows, it will have to build trust and profile like the Tatas or cashflows like Mukesh Ambani, so that it is immune to "hit jobs". For investors, it's back to basics. Fundamentals and valuations CANNOT deviate for too long. Short selling leads to price discovery. Short Selling is tricky and if wrong unwinding could be a nightmare. We shouldn't DEMONIZE success.

@jaisalsanghvi Hi Jaisal. Firstly, I am not giving Adani a free pass, but the appropriate word to use is "allegedly". Thus, "Adani allegedly transferred...".
The supposed "related" party transactions with Vinod Adani should have been flagged by auditors. Nevertheless, unless we know more can only speculate about the quality. As you know, speculations are not evidence admissible in courts.
Loans were extended by both public and private banks. Adani has not defaulted on any of his payments. Pledged shares of promoters are less than 10% now (from the over 50% high of 2019-20). Collateral extends to hard assets. These are not really that troublesome.
However, the central allegations of stock price manipulation are of more importance. If I remember correctly, a few months back, Sucheta Dalal had already exposed this. She had tweeted regarding Mauritius-based companies involved in rigging prices. That should have been the first warning.
Finally. Yes, these were public records, and it is quite surprising that in a country of 1.4 billion, nobody reads a 200-page annual report. So yes, an American did put "honest," and thorough efforts into its research and is now minting money. Adani group needs better corporate governance. It has its task cut out going forward. Regarding the "fraud" part, I wouldn't buy so much as that would require several more qualifications. It was an overvalued stock that crashed.

@pamtam1 I never disputed FACTS Pre-CoVID decline was a reality as a percentage but not in absolute measures. In any case, many things were built into it - global gloom, the UPA era, the NPA mess, demonetization, etc. The CoVID impact was on account of the lockdown. Nothing unreasonable there. All facts and CONTEXTS.
Could India have done better during the period? Sure. 8 is definitely better than 7. But if 7 is the highest in the class, then the question paper was also challenging. India being the fastest growing large economy tells you about the environment then. Still, not getting an 8 or 10 is a welcome CRITICISM. I do NOT mind that.
Now, as to "Quotes". As I've established before, we can AGREE to DISAGREE. You made your point long ago, and I did it much before you. Check the definition of DESPERATION, and you'll know for yourself. I'm sure that's not such a difficult fact to process.
However, kudos to you for keeping the discussion civil. A rarity in online discussions.

@MadhuSudhan014 Enlighten us, how did privatization of railways turn out in the UK? Did it make their population poorer? Are their companies loss-makers like Indian Railways? Indian Railways proudly write on our tickets that 43% of the cost of travel is borne by taxpayers in comparison German Govt owned DB make billions in profits. Railways are not cheap anywhere in Europe. The cheapest mode there is buses next is flights (cheap ones like Ryan Air are even cheaper than buses at times) and the most expensive is railways for city to city travel. Only for within city travel, railways are cheap (because taxis are super expensive). The European landscape is also suitable for cycling unlike ours. Only a handful of cities in India have metros and Mumbai metro is privately owned.
Public transport in the US is heavenly by Indian standards. Nevertheless, Subways and Metros in the US are some amalgamations of state ownership. Also, I never suggested outright selling of every enterprise. Within a city, metros are compensated almost everywhere in the world. It is a vital cog that connects labor to workshops. Long-distance travel is generally not heavily subsidized like the case in India.
Also, the US has strong anti-trust laws which forbid monopoly. There are many litigations in their courts against this. Telecom in the US is consolidated with largely four players as is the case everywhere in the world (Handful of companies in Telecom sectors). As regards to Cable, you need to see the larger picture there. The threat of substitutes is high making it one of the most competitive sectors today and I am not sure that such competition and rivalry have benefitted the consumers in the streaming/cable sector. In fact, even in India, we are spending way more on streaming/cable/entertainment-related expenses.
Capitalism is known to promote income inequality but by far it is the best system. There is no example of a successful Socialist/communist state. In fact, the experiment ended with the collapse of the USSR.

@PK-tt5kk Impressive. To be honest, when I used the word "right-libertarian" I didn't expect someone to pick up on its literal meaning else I would have articulated my original comment better. My bad. It's thePrint audience, and I should have realized it. Let me correct myself - I didn't mean "Laissez-faire" at one day's or 5 years' notice. I wish for it to be a more prominent political discourse and for the state to take steps toward it. Unfortunately, I don't see it happening, and worse we are actually moving toward a command economy with Soviet characteristics. The Old Pension Scheme, for e.g. is economic suicide. INC has not even implemented it in Rajasthan and Chattisgarh despite promises. Both these states will implement them in the final year, which is next year (the election year 2023), and leave a welcome gift time bomb for the next Govt. Even if these same Govts are sworn in, the situation would be dire for the whole country. Everyone is competing for freebies - electricity, TV, Grih aadhar, laadli Lakshmi (aka Govt sponsored dowry), etc. Even BJP is an active player in these disasters.

@Arehah Here,
9:5
"But once the Sacred Months have passed, kill the polytheists wherever you find them, capture them, besiege them, and lie in wait for them on every way. But if they repent, perform prayers, and pay alms-tax, then set them free. Indeed, Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful"
98.6
"Surely those who disbelieve from among the followers of the Book and the polytheists shall be in the fire of hell, abiding therein; they are the worst of men"
4 48
"Allah does not forgive associating others with Him ˹in worship˺, but forgives anything else of whoever He wills. And whoever associates others with Allah has indeed committed a grave sin"

3rd Reich gained the means to seize power via a DEMOCRATIC process. In retrospect, many wonder if the course of HISTORY could have been different had someone INTERVENED to cut short Hitler's political rise. Of course, speculations about the past hold NO MEANING but it would be folly to expect that it would have been a guaranteed POSITIVE OUTCOME. Similarly, Imran Khan may be an IDIOT and the ROOT cause of Pakistan's current ECONOMIC CRISIS. Still, the man is UNSTOPPABLE, and his POPULARITY knows no bounds. He has already won the PERCEPTION WAR, much like Arvind Kejriwal's INCORRUPTIBLE image or Modi's STRONGMAN-HONEST image. While Rahul Gandhi can be easily set aside (thanks to no charisma), the Kejriwals, the Modis, and the Khans remain at the top of their game. Whatever our view about him, it's for the people of Pak to decide his fate.

@Arnab Haldar I respect your opinion but I have to disagree with much of it. First of all, I doubt the political discourse has anything to do with "secularism". Politics is politics. If they don't pick religion a politician would pick some other issue. I remember the days when I was a teenager and swayed by Raj Thackeray's "Bhumiputra" nonsense. Now, I know better that it was merely a political tactic.
Nothing is getting worse in India. The BJP is winning because the Opposition is led by morons. Also, Modi has a strong following. People like good orators and his Hindu hriday samrat image is a major selling point. Now that Afghanistan has triggered a national security issue, Modi is once again likely going to benefit from it because Rahul, in the words of the late Sheila Dixit, is still not "mature". Also, please don't bring up the "BJP destroyed his image" excuse. His Lok Sabha performance and his interview with Arnab speak plenty.
Coming back to the notion of secularism. I am from a place where there are several oral tales about the destruction of Hindu properties by Muslim invaders. We are brought listening to stories of the great Shivaji and his adventures against the Mughals who are always the ENEMY. The events are true and the destruction was real too. Of course, it was years ago but if you try to sell us secularism as "There was NO DESTRUCTION by INVADERS. IT IS ALL A MADE-UP STORY", Then bro we are sorry. We don't buy such SECULARISM. We are not some rioting place. The constituency was always loyal to the Congress but only since 2014 the tied has switched toward the BJP. Back in 2014, the MMS Govt had become so lethargic and unpopular that there was a wholesale switch towards Modi. Since then the Congress has got completely disintegrated.
I think the kind of "Secularism" that you described never existed in India. The church or in India's case the temple never really set the terms for the state because there is no one authority on Hinduism in India but religion has always been a factor in policymaking. For a highly religious country like ours that's not necessarily a bad thing. The beef ban was not a BJP policy it was from the times of Congress or the funding of Madrasahs for education. However, Post the 80s the ban on Satanic verses, the Shah Bano case, the opening of the Temple gates in Ayodhya by Rajiv Gandhi, or even Mamata's policy of stipend for Imams and ban on idol immersion during Muharram were a part of larger "pandering" or "appeasement" to the "fundamentalists".
Even today the Pew study is clear that Indians are tolerant. Hindus are in fact more tolerant. Muslims are understandably more "religious" because it's just the way they are brought up. However, Secularism in India has always been maintaining some minimum status quo. In fact, one of the findings of that study was that we do not like intermixing. There are no "blasphemy" laws in India but we still arrest people for "disrespecting and insulting faith under instigating rioting" (applies to all regions in India btw). French secularism on the other hand would do no such thing. Their freedom of speech allows Charlie Hebdo but ours is an outright ban.

@quenky1 Thank you for a respectful engagement. It appears we agree on many things, but being able to communicate disagreements in a highly pointed and respectful fashion is rare these days.
More than us, it is the main opposition, aka the INC, that needs to pick up the issues that you mentioned. They had their chance, and I would acknowledge that they did or tried to do many good things to varying degrees of success. However, the current INC seems to be focused only on Rahul Gandhi's graph. It is likely that even if defeated, he'll lead them into 2029. Perhaps he'll click, but I have my doubts. Regional leaders are also focused only on their families. Even the highly respected Naveen Patnaik has not made a "herculean" impact on Odia life. BJP, to me, is the least worst among all available options. I do not want my political choices to be such.

@Subh8081 FALLING BACK TO OLD HABITS OF PLAYING THE VICTIM CARD ARE WE? READ MY POST CORRECTLY. Your EARLIER quote "but don't ever say that ". You have NO RIGHT TO TELL ME WHAT I CAN AND I CANNOT SAY. I CALLED THIS A TERRORIST-TALIBANI behavior NOT YOUR CRITICIZING OF MODI. I never told you to say this or that. I have been clear from the onset of the debate - You are entitled to your opinion.
As to Fascism and Hitler. YES, IT A REAL THREAT. BUT FROM WHOM? Here are some links.
https://www.ndtv.com/bangalore-news/arrested-bengaluru-doctor-abdur-rahman-allegedly-made-app-for-isis-says-anti-terror-body-nia-2282707
https://www.dw.com/en/india-arrests-9-suspected-al-qaeda-terrorists/a-54986076
https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/kerala-man-trained-by-isis-in-iraq-found-guilty-by-special-nia-court-2300985
Who are these offsprings of Mussolini? They are waging a war against the country. They want to turn India into a battleground. You are happy to look the other way round because it suits your VICTIM CARD narrative. You are fine with them because they do not burn your house. There are no Concentration camps in India but there are RADICALIZATION CENTRES. CONGRESS FACILITATED THE BREEDING OF SUCH ELEMENTS and were happy to see them bomb Hindu temples and destroy Hindu lives. You say you condemn them. But they exist. Why? As recently as a couple of weeks back a mob of thousands burnt a house and that too an MLA no less. YOU SAY I CONDEMN THEM. WILL YOUR CONDEMNING HAVE ANY IMPACT? CAN YOU GUARANTEE THERE WILL BE NO SUCH INCIDENCES? NO. You know radicalization is a problem. Instead of SOLVING THAT YOU WRITE PASSAGES ON HINDURASHTRA. Reminds me of a Raj Kumar dialogue -> About people leaving in glasshouses and throwing stones at others. You HIDE LIKE COWARDS BEHIND VICTIM CARD and the bigger problem goes unacknowledged - The deafening silence. These people do not do such acts without specific motivations. The silence amounts to collusion. THIS IS THE REAL CANCER. You DO NOT VALUE HINDU LIVES. TO YOU THEY DO NOT MATTER. After all, you reduced the Kashmiri Pandit Exodus to "Terrorist threats". They were more than just threats. It was GENOCIDE. It was ETHNIC CLEANSING. You habitually quote hate speeches from BJP leaders. They are just empty words. This is REAL HATE IN ACTION. They don't want your condemning they want justice and the homeland and properties. But of course, they DO NOT HAVE THE LUXURY OF THE VICTIM CARD AND VOTE BANK POLITICS.
https://www.indiatoday.in/india/story/kashmiri-pandit-exodus-sunanda-vashisht-1619180-2019-11-15
https://eurasiantimes.com/indian-media-wakes-up-after-30-years-to-cover-kashmiri-pandit-genocide/
Coming back to Banglore riots. I know it was a Congress MLA''s house. Yet the statements of Congress leaders were nothing but cringeworthy. Instead of expressing solidarity, Congress was advising the NEPHEW of the MLA. His alleged post while wrong and stupid could have been tackled by law. But JEHAD COULD NOT WAIT.
DOES THE ALMIGHTY ALLAH OR ISHWAR NOT HAVE THE POWER TO CAUSE EARTHQUAKES AND WHAT NOT? ARE THEY SO HELPLESS THAT THEY NEED PUNY HUMANS TO FIGHT THEIR BATTLES FOR THEM?
IS IT FAIR that Hindus live in FEAR all the time? I BEAR NO ILL WILL TO ANY RELIGION.
Your hypocrisy stands SO MUCH EXPOSED when you try to justify Rahul's temple run and Priyanka's Ram Mandir support. You called and I quote "Shifting of Discourse". Here is an example of the shifting of discourse.
https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/other-states/ram-temple-is-coming-up-with-consent-of-all-kamal-nath/article32247412.ece
https://theprint.in/politics/rajiv-gandhi-fulfilled-idea-of-ram-rajya-mp-congress-functionary-claims-in-full-page-ad/485901/
https://www.timesnownews.com/india/article/rajiv-gandhi-opened-locks-called-for-ram-rajya-in-1985-kamal-nath/632586
THE CONGRESS IS TRYING TO TAKE CREDIT FOR RAM TEMPLE. Yet you say it is a CENTRIST Party. IT IS NOTHING BUT A SHIFTING PARTY. AS TO YOUR CRAFTY CONDEMNATIONS and supporting examples of How a Jewish group supported Hitler. By your own logic, the above actions of the Congress would be like becoming the NAZIS. But it is Congress and it dangles the carrot of appeasement so ALL IS FORGIVEN.
SO FAR YOUR ENTIRE DEBATE: THE BJP IS BAD and WHEN YOU FUMBLE TO EXPLAIN THE DUBIOUS ACTS OF THE CONGRESS, YOU ADD A "BUT" to CONGRESS. This is partisanship but somehow to you, others are "sycophants" except your own self.
As to PRINCIPLES OF THE CONGRESS PARTY. Here is the dictionary definition of the word Principle
https://www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/definition/english/principle?q=principle
It clearly DOES NOT mention that Principles can be altered in response to other people's actions. They are supposed to be guiding system even amidst challenges. Does that make Congress a party of PRINCIPLES? Nope. It is an Opportunist party -> The 180 on farm bills, sudden Ram bhakti, or its alliance with Shivsena are the most recent example. You say and I quote "Religion and Politics must be kept separate". Has the Congress kept them separate? Shah Bano ruling -> NOPE, Satanic verses -> NOPE, Sikh Genocide -> NOPE, Ram Temple -> NOPE (To add insult to injury they are now even attributing its construction to themselves). JUSTIFY THIS. DO NOT GIVE THE EXCUSE "CURRENT GENERATION OF CONGRESS". The above are recent news articles and from LEFTIST Media outlets and just from a few days back.
SO TO CONCLUDE YOU ARE A HYPOCRITE: YOU ARE ACCUSING THE BJP OF CRIMES THAT THE CONGRESS HAS ALREADY COMMITTED. You accuse me of looking the other way YET YOU ARE THE ONE WHO ESSENTIALLY LOOKS THE OTHER WAY. You turn a BLIND EYE to the Congress alliance with Shivsena, Soft Hindutva, Shifting discourse, Rajiv Gandhi's opening of Ram Temple, Sikh genocide, Kashmiri Pandit Exodus, Islamic Terror, and everything else. You say you CONDEMN THESE ACTS OF CONGRESS, YET YOU CONTINUE TO PLACATE CONGRESS AS AN ALTERNATIVE. That's HYPOCRISY. So do not pretend that you ride the horse of morality with Congress behind. Your condemnations lack sincerity.
You basically have NOTHING TO OFFER BUT ONLY MOCK MODI. You taunt him using words like "God". Is it working? SO FAR NO and that is what is frustrating you.
If somebody thinks CONGRESS IS SOMEHOW BETTER THAN THEY ARE ONLY FOOLING THEMSELVES.
1
-
@Subh8081 YOUR HYPOCRISY speaks for itself when you SAY "Kamal Nath was spotted near Gurudwara". So you offer him the benefit of the doubt but NOT SADHVI. And yes, I think nobody should resign until proven guilty. Its politics every day there is some accusation or the other. I do not think it is practical to get cleared on one FIR and then resign again on another.
As to apology - It's okay to BURN someone's house and just say SORRY? Is this some Justin Bieber song? It's lives.
Clearly, For you, Sikh/Hindu lives hold lower value than Muslim lives. THIS IS HYPOCRISY ON YOUR PART. So Hindu house burns you will WhatsApp them a "Sorry" article. Modi dared the Congress to jail him if he was guilty. What happened in the 12 years of investigation. Why did Congress fail?
As to "Innocent until proven guilty". The phrase still stands. No court can bar him for him contesting. And he cannot be barred from becoming MP/MLA if he wins. Name of that Person is -> Waiz Ul Islam. My support or no support does not count. Nor it counts in Pragya's case. I am anyways not the voter who chose her. As to ticket to her. I am fine with it.
As to you daring me. I say it here- Modi is clean, incorruptible and I support his agenda. It is my right to say whatever I think. YOU ARE EXHIBITING TYPICAL TERRORIST mentality when you say "don't ever say" . You have no right to tell me what to say and think. Next, what burning my house? Like the way it was done in Bengaluru.
To be clear in none of my post I've said anything ill about Islam. You can check and re-check.
AS TO HINDURASHTRA. Who is more committed to HINDU RASHTRA? Why Not a single word on Congress alliance with Shivsena. Are you so naive or you purposely ignore it on account of your SYCOPHANCY to Congress and BLIND HATE for Modi?
I openly confess I am not looking for a saint to become the PM. There is no saint available. The next best option to everyone is Modi. I look the other way in the same way you IGNORE Congress-Shivsena, alliance, Rahul's temple run, Priyannka's Ram Mandir support, Kamal Nath's largest Hanuman temple, Sonia's pandering of Buhari, Owaisi's Hate jibes, Mamta's pandering of You-Know-Who and LEFT's support for Afzal Guru. SO DO NOT TELL ME YOU ARE NOT A HYPOCRITE. THE ONE'S WHO ARE THE MOST DENY THE MOST.
If BJP is SO UNPRINCIPLED why can't Congress lead the way and show what it means to be PRINCIPLED?
If we have to choose one among a pool of the LEAST WORST then don't tell me your choice is better than mine. If there was some third party with much better leaders who DO NOT talk about RELIGION, who do not indulge in APPEASEMENT POLITICS, DO NOT PANDER TO ISLAMISTS/HINU HARDLINERS, Do real work of CREATING EMPLOYMENT opportunities instead of going the Welfare scheme route - I would have supported that party. BUT I CAN NEVER SUPPORT A PARTY LIKE THE CONGRESS.

@parassinghbawa8554 So when you say, "Brain is a scarce entity for some human beings" you are talking about yourself. The word "acquitted" doesn't even make sense, given that MMS was never formally charged. But then again, Court has also "acquitted" Modi of Rafale, 2002, DeMo, but that will not be a "FULL STOP" for you because it does NOT suit your agenda. Nevertheless, P Chidambaram and his son are still under trial, and the coal scam is still being probed. "Honor among thieves" is the code all politicians live by, so the discussion is moot. What "we" must do is for all the "I"s, aka Individuals, to decide for themselves. People are free to choose based on their own criteria. Parts of Bundelkhand highway were damaged in the rain and later repaired. YOU ARE SAD BECAUSE NOBODY IS BUYING YOUR PROPAGANDA. Hence, now you are doing "sour grapes".

The thing on his head tells the whole story. No wonder they want to eradicate Sanatan Dharma. They want to divide us as Dalits, Rajputs, Jats, OBCs, Brahmins, Nishads, Bhandaris, Marathas, Vaishyas, and so on, only to build a coalition of converts and terrorists. No Hindu should fall for this gimmick.

@AbhishekKumar-fe7yy First of all your premise is wrong. Your arguments are - "Trust me bro, I know everything". If you can't cite evidence you are intellectually bankrupt. "Foundations nahi tha" it seems. South Korea also got a bad hand (in many ways much worse than India). Yet, their leaders were smart enough to ensure long term prosperity. They adopted the model of "guided capitalism" and built Samsung, LG, Hyundai and other giants. We couldn't create anything.
Also, let's not just restrict to the Iits and AIIMS. The numerous engineering, medical and management institutes set up during esp in South India created the much needed human capital. However, Govt policies of the time discouraged entrepreneurship. Soaring tax rates discouraged foreign investments. The problems only got compounded during the Indira era. At least, Nehru delivered 4% growth. Indira Gandhi crashed it to 2%. The tax rates were upwards of 90%. There was no incentive to work more as it would not have led to higher earnings.
Nehruvian Socialism was all about denial. The kind of denial you are exhibiting now. It was a disaster, Hence Congress itself abandoned it and opted for mandated reforms in 1992. The rest is history.
PS: Stop ridiculing Pakistan's success (the very little they ever had). They too started with meagre resources. However, the army was inherently self-serving. Hence, it went down the path of capitalism and prospered before Bhutto ruined it. Also, we ourselves were at the mercy of foreign aid and among the US sponsored PL50 program. We would have gone hungry with the American corns.
