  3. I left Galveston tx and moved to Seattle Washington in 2015 at 60 years old. Galveston tex being on a barrier island on the gulf coast has weather that will kill you as well as the rest of Texas and the southern tier. Being born in South Louisiana I have seen it grow worse all my long life. I cannot even keep track of the many gulf hurricanes every year that threaten the people I care about. But I remembered a stretch of 22 years in the late 1900s and the early 2000s where we only had tropical storms which gave us needed rain and helped with what was otherwise blast furnace heat. But no if Galveston does not have tropical weather there are spring summer fall droughts. It's too expensive to grow a garden and the water becomes salty because the gulf backs up into the water supply. But the biggest reason I left was money and before my money ran out. I could only get a part time job at minimum wage no heath care ghetto mass transit. And 12 dollars a month food stamps. My neighbors bought my house so I did not go into foreclosure. And I took what I had left and got out of town. I am priveledhed to be able to do that even if it took everything I had. I am fairly content to live in an expensive city on a social security check. I am able to meet most of my needs in walking distance and a world class hospital is a block away. Another one is 2 blocks away a third is 5 blocks away. I miss the Galveston that was but she is no more

  5. I moved from Galveston tx to Seattle wa needing medical care and mass transit. I found both but found also a near goldocks climate most days. And was pleasantly surprised. Yes housing is high but after you fix that it's all good and because of vacay rentals Galveston is more high priced than seattle

  12. In the deep south I had a hard time getting people to think I was white I would get Mexicans saying you look Spanish. And they would come up to me speaking Spanish in the pacific nw I am so white I have trouble getting makeup shades right to I mix a dark and light till it works and I had light treatment once for my skin and I went through a red phase the doc thought I was sunburnt.

  13. I lived in Galveston tx for 11 years in Texas more than 30 years. So many reasons to leave but increased storms was one of them. So I live in seattle now on a hill. If all the ice melted I my life time I would be on a little island but there are plenty of mountains east of me.

  17. I have seattle light service electric owned by the city of Seattle. 117 degrees last summer and 17 degrees today. It is rare to have a blacout. I have not had a blackout in 6 years since I came to Seattle. OH and it's dirt cheap or home. Like about 8 cents a I lowatt hour.what can I say socialism works. If you are not feeding ceos and stockholders thing work so much better. The ceos and shareholders are not value added.

  20. i have made the best desciion to move to seattle been here 7 years now. i have health care transportation housing and a little help from my friends. i rarely need either heat or air conditioning

  26. I lived in Galveston County Texas for more than 30 years. 11 of those years on Galveston Island. All they say here is true. The mainland of Galveston County now have mini floods every time it rains and Galveston Island has no rain except for tropical weather
