13:30 before the current Israel-Gaza war started I would check Al-Jazeera regularly as one of a range of news outlets to get a broader world viewpoint. After the war started I noticed the difference in terms of pro Palestinian content compared to other outlets was stark. This should be no surprise and to be expected for a Qatari public broadcaster when understanding the Qatari authoritarian government.

@davidporter7051 There has been plenty of evidence from other countries in history that a well organised, disciplined, strong, oppressive Authoritarian regime can maintain power without a majority of support. An early 2023 poll of Iranians support for the Islamic Republic Government: 81% against, 15% for, 4% not sure. Of Iranians outside Iran, 99% against. Any statement saying all or a majority of Iranians support the government of Iran over having a different more democratic form of government is blatantly false. The anti government protests that have flared up again and again before being violently repressed, resulting in protester deaths every time, are evidence of this.

@Antody only the smart people aren't happy with an oppressive regime and the 'undereducated' are too dumb to realise that they could live more freely under a different government? That's a crazy take.
