His smugness can be a bit abrasive, but it is part of his comedic style which has brought him undeniable success. As an Australian I think it is important to point out that he is biased towards the Labour party (one of two of our main political parties, the other being the LNP[Liberal National Party/the Coalition], not quite as much of a duopoly as Democrats and Republicans in the US, but every election still leads to Labour or the LNP winning). This said he has done some great independent journalism that the mainstream media has avoided/missed. With results such as exposing the corrupt deputy leader John Barilaro, of our largest state by population, NSW, which ultimately led to his resignation. Unfortunately Barilaro has largely escaped punishment for his many dodgy practices. Hopefully with time he will. Jordan's work exposing the all powerful gambling lobby is up there with his most important work, among many other targets. This in my opinion, is a strong candidate for getting his home firebombed(must be doing something right as an investigating journalist to get firebombed), but because he has made quite a few powerful enemies, it is not conclusive who was behind it.
As an Australian, I am happy that people overseas are paying attention to him to help show some of what's really happening down under.

@valtracey6180 glad that link was a bit helpful. One bit that really got me was the young lady who was doing 6 years in jail for having a child out of wedlock. Brutal. Also the petty harassment of political rivals was telling. On the Irish struggle against the British, my grandfather was born outside Belfast and left for Australia as a teenager and have always been interested in the history. There are similarities between the two conflicts but there are also some important differences. Ireland's links with mainland Europe and eventual joining with the European Union played a big part in the Good Friday Peace deal. Sinn Fein had to put down arms and cease bombing etc to get full European backing and once they had that the pressure on everyone for peace made it inevitable. Splinter IRA groups have attempted to literally blow up/kill the peace deal but they have been ostracised, convicted, shut down etc and even though there are still deep seated issues that cause problems, the peace has held. The Palestinians have no real equivalent, the countries of the middle east are often either at war or on the brink of it instead of being a united group, Iran only uses the Palestinians to increase their power and influence in the region, Qatar does the same and the list goes on. The average Palestinian has to be one of the most screwed over people of the last 100 years.
And what really tears at the heart in this latest flare up is Hamas, Islamic Jihad, etc in one day committed the worst atrocities on Jews since the holocaust; men, women, children from babies to the elderly murdered in the worst way imaginable, some quickly in front of family, others slowly tortured; all the while go-pro'd directly to their telegram to create the maximum fear and mental pain for other Israeli's. This while Israeli has the most right wing government it's ever had with some cabinet members that are practically Nazis that would like to ethnic cleanse every Palestinian from the whole area(one of them said that nuclear bombs should be dropped on Gaza after October 7th). The events of that day have left such a wound on Israel that Hamas knew that it would lead a vengeful Netanyahu government to bomb the hell out of Gaza killing thousands while Hamas leaders sit in luxurious compounds in Qatar. Extremists on both sides are responsible. Even when a leader that works hard for peace gains enough power to make a start at peace, often a fanatic kills them (1995 Israeli PM Yitzhak Rabin shot by right wing Israeli, Palestinian Fatah leader shot in 2006 by rivals in his own party). The fact that probably the most intractable conflict in modern history seems to be worse than ever is not a good sign for the end to the current fighting, let alone a longer lasting peace. For the majority of both Israelis and Palestinians who just want to live normal, respectable lives, the rest of the world needs to do better.

10:03 agree, good point. Most wars, Ukraine, Syria etc, civilians are at least able to flee to relative safety when the chance arises. Most Gazans have been trapped since the start, with no real opportunity to move somewhere truly safe. The Israeli designated safe zones are inadequate and nowhere near big enough to fit the large numbers of displaced civilians. More pressure should be put on Egypt to allow more Gazans that desperately need adequate health treatment to be let through the southern border, even if only temporarily. There's no shortage of charities, other governments, NGO's etc with resources waiting to help due to not being able to get enough assistance into Gaza. Here in Australia our government gave out 800+ visas(small number but not nothing)to Gazan relatives of Australian citizens (also gave a similar number to Israeli relatives after 10/7), but some have been waiting weeks, now months, for Egypt to add them to the list of Gazans with foreign visas that are aloud to cross over Egypt and Israel's blockade that prevents the vast majority from fleeing the war to find safety and link up with families abroad. Egypt would get all the help it needs (money, equipment, people etc) from the international community to help provide more relief to civilians in Gaza. Obviously I am definitely not talking about taking all or most Gazans and moving them permanently to the Sinai in a move of abhorrent ethnic cleansing. As Preston says, the silence regarding humanitarian relief solutions for the millions of Gazans aside from permanent ceasefire (that seems to not be going to happen anytime soon) is telling. Of course there's not easy solutions, but if alternative solutions are not being discussed, they will never be worked out.

16:58 Very valid point. No hostages have been rescued since the single hostage rescue near the start of the war and the senior Hamas leaders in Gaza haven't been caught or killed. This proves the months long military strategy has been a failure with the exception of when negotiations led to the swap of not far off half of the Israeli hostages for 300+ Palestinians. Netanyahu is failing as Israel's leader hopelessly and should step aside or get his f*cking act together as people's lives are at stake, IDF soldiers returning in body bags, approx 20 hostages already dead (let alone the 2+ million Gazans at extreme risk with more than 1% already dead). If Netanyahu genuinely tried to get Hamas to agree to a fair deal it would happen as Hamas would cave to the wedge of Gazans suffering and desperate need for relief from the current situation. Have seen reports of Rafah swelling to 1.9 million people and signalling from the IDF that Rafah will soon become a bigger target meaning the bombing that's already been happening there will increase. A ceasefire, be it a pause or permanent, needs to happen YESTERDAY and countries with the most influence (US, UK, Germany etc) need to exert all pressure possible to make it happen.
Also I feel like the nasty elements of the Israeli government like Ben-Gvir are not going to topple Netanyahu's Prime Ministership in the middle of a war. Netanyahu has been stubborn as hell for years fighting against corruption charges, that to do the diplomatic work necessary (domestically and international negotiations) to bring the hostages home is possible if he was genuine. Unfortunately I think he is too much in the mold of the modern self interested populist leader like Trump, Orban, Putin etc, who see everything in the lens of their own power and wealth and lack any compassion or sympathy for virtually anyone else. On this I hope I'm wrong but Netanyahu's own statements seem to say otherwise.

8:31 This is spot on, the building of trust and impartiality is key to being a reliable source of information. I appreciate your efforts Preston to strive for this standard, which is why I watch daily. Of course everybody has internal biases to some extent, even when deliberately working to counteract/limit them. This is why it's a good idea to seek out different sources of information, even if only to broaden the amount of info being taken in on a daily basis (I check out BBC, NYT, Al Jazeera, Australian news version of ABC [as an Aussie living in Australia], as well as independent news creators like Preston, Willy OAM, TLDR, etc). I think it's also a good sign that you're bringing in more voices to the set up as your expanding, which can only help to increase the information put out and if managed well will maintain or increase the quality as well(bringing the trust issue back).

Ben-Gvir, taken at his own words a terrorist, fascist, genocide promoting (he has called for the removal of Palestinians from Gaza and replacing with Jewish settlers) and stoker of hate and division. By Netanyahu making him Minister for National Security, purely out of self interest to remain in power to avoid facing consequences for his own dodgy practices, has only fed hate and division into an already volatile and often violent situation that has managed to stay unresolved for decades on decades. Political decisions like Ben-Gvir's appointment work directly against any chance of resolving the problem. The promotion of Smotrich (who said Palestinians have three options: be subjugated under Israeli rule, emigrate to a foreign country or choose martyrdom/death.), to Finance minister and adjunct Defence minister only compounds this issue. Israels own leaders have and continue to endanger the safety of their own people. Motivation for armed resistance has to increase in response to the death and destruction in Gaza and to maybe a lesser but still significant amount from the increase in violent oppression and occupation in the West Bank and East Jerusalem (400+ deaths since Oct 7, approx. a quarter of which are children).
Netanyahu and his allies on the far right need to be reigned in before they make things even worse. The fact a war is going on makes this even more crucial, not a reason to delay and extend the problems they create. Israel deserves better, so much better.

What an adrenaline pumping video. The shot that took the shooter down seemed pretty long, no expert but definitely wasn't a close easy shot.
In my life have often come across people who hate all police, and never really understood it. Take away the posers who do it trying to be cool and the opposite, people who have serious/legitimate trauma from a truly horrible past experience with the police (eg they have been S.A.'d by a cop, etc), these I can understand, the first being a f**kwit not worth knowing, the second being positions of authority can attract monsters and unless you've walked in the victims shoes it's impossible to truly understand. I have come across people who hate all cops but don't fit into either of these two categories and maybe plain ignorance explains them. Ignorance can be cultural, developed in families and friends, etc. Having a distrust of authority can sometimes be healthy, structural problems in institutions of authority can have major effects and of course they should be worked on for the betterment of society. But when people say they hate all police I always instantly think that there are so many good, honest people who join the police, it is often a thankless job that doesn't get the respect it deserves and what hellscape would exist if we didn't have the thin blue line that protects and serves(this video is a perfect example of protect and serve).
Of course we need to work harder as a society to fix the structural issues that can be responsible for leading a good person to make bad decisions, the issues that sometimes prevent bad people from facing accountability, etc.
Lack of knowledge can lead to ignorance, ignorance can lead to hatred and hatred leads to a no win situation. We are at a time in history when trust in institutions is at a low point for legitimate reasons - the global financial crises (CEO's getting golden handshakes in the millions with Gov bailouts while the Middle Class lost their homes, the working class got majorly f**ked.....etc,etc), police shootings, globalisation (the rights and wants of multinational corporations usually trumping the rights and needs of actual humans), the mishandling of the pandemic, etc, etc. But the answer is not tearing down the institutions, we need to work to fix the problems to rebuild the trust in the institutions on which our democracy is built. To paraphrase Churchill, democracy is the worst form of government except for all the other forms of government that exist around the world. He meant democracy is not perfect but is still way better than Authoritarianism, Monarchies etc.

36:18 The Democratic congress leaders agreeing to Right wing Israeli PM Netanyahu's congressional address, which most likely he will use to deliberately undermine Biden with the hope of a Trump victory in November, is political insanity and I struggle to see any rationale for it. Netanyahu's recent comments about the Biden administration "blockading" weapons and ammunition shipments, most likely in reference to a hold on 2,000 pound bomb shipment out of concern for heavy bombs being repeatedly used in densely populated areas, is blatant misinformation when the US aside from this one relatively small arms hold is still providing $3.8 billion in arms per year and $12.5 billion since October 7th. Add on the long list of other support such as vetoing resolutions at the UN, defending against and attacking the Houthis, aircraft carriers as deterrent to Iran and their axis of resistance, shooting down a large number of Iran's unprecedented attack on Israel (which was a response to Israel bombing an Iranian consulate building to kill a senior IRGC leader), advocating diplomatically for hostage release negotiations and separately for the Abraham accords, etc, etc.
Saying it again, Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries decision agreeing to invite Netanyahu to speak to the US Congress is crazy. They are allowing for the political stunt he's surely going to turn it into.

@hatehipocracy9429 re referendum in Crimera, was run by Kremlin appointed election officials who are notoriously corrupt and referendum machinations were not made available to be scrutinized by independent election integrity groups, putting your claims of democratic choice strongly in doubt. Interviews with Crimera tourism operators in 2018 revealed that they welcomed the annexation at first, but after living the reality of being led by a systemically corrupt authoritarian regime, they regretted the annexation. " All media outlets are totally under Neocons control" is an overly exaggerated statement, especially compared to press freedoms in Russia, where the Kremlin controls state media and independent journalism has been all but snuffed out with the only non biased media forced to report from outside the country ( an example of the extremes the Kremlin will go to, journalists have been assassinated on the street for being critical of the government). I am aware of the modern problems with the 24/7 news cycle of commercial news companies, which is why I get my news from a range of sources and tend to steer clear of the big commercial news broadcasters, don't even watch MSNBC or CNN. Also is a mistake to automatically trust independent vloggers who often haven't even undertaken any journalism study or training to develop a core base of strong journalistic ethics that is essential to non biased reporting. Will take note of names you said and see if they pass muster because I do follow some vloggers but only after they have proven to have necessary journalistic ethics that enables trust to be built all the while maintaining necessary scepticism(humans are not infallible). Have been consuming news shows and newspapers for roughly 40+ years and have seen the liberalism of US news networks increase giving rise to right wing Fox News, the slow death of local newspapers and the distortion created by the emphasis on the 24hr cycle, the presentation of opinions as facts and the rise of the false excuse when people are caught out to say fake news instead of owning their mistakes. Therefore I don't fool easily and can spot bullshit most of the time when I see it. This is why I have put this much time into countering your obvious false propaganda. No system of government is perfect, there should be constant adjustments to fix flaws, but as Churchill said Democracy is a shitty system of government, but still far better than every other system of government that the world has trialled. The western Armies of the US, UK and Australia have been investigated for wrongdoings on the battlefield, possible war crimes in some situations but minute in scale to what the evidence shows the Russian Army and Mercenaries have committed in Ukraine, but the free press has been able to investigate and uncover many of these wrongdoings and the government's been forced by this to take action. They need to do a lot more but compared to Russia it is a joke if it were not so horrible, Russia does zero to hold their war criminals to account because the rot in the system goes all the way to the top(there are drone photos of Russian mercenaries digging mass graves in Africa, and not even a denial has been admitted to by those responsible to reign them in).
Hopefully one day in the near future billionaire kleptocratic dictator Putin will be gone and the world can attempt to deal with the myriad of issues that have been sidelined due to the many crises created by Putin's unjust and horrific invasion.

1:00:29 I have watched and enjoyed numerous episodes of Lex's podcast but tried to start to watch the Tucker episode and found it impossible and had to stop because Tucker is so full of it in a boring, predictable way. Lex has a habit of when he interviews a polarised figure like Tucker, he will follow it up by trying to get an interview with someone who represents the opposite side, or someone who is an expert in the subject matter in question. The almost 3 and a half hour episode following Tucker's with Serhii Plokhy, a Ukrainian academic at Harvard, provided the necessary information to counter Putin's interpretation of history, denazification and other current military strategies, etc, etc, in a way that goes further than any hard ball questions that Tucker could have asked if he wasn't such a (useful to some) idiot. Lex's format of often having long form interviews with competing sides of polarised issues can be debated on the merits of its effectiveness, but I have found on multiple issues it has proven to be informative in an educational sense. Criticisms of platforming too often those from the "intellectual dark web" may be valid, but with 415 interviews conducted, I find this less significant. Compared to Lex Fridman, the number of shady characters actively doing current harm to society is surely much more of a problem. The only people who don't skip and pay attention to the Tucker episode on Lex's podcast, are die hard Tucker fans already committed to his BS.

As someone from outside the US, please don't put us through an even more unhinged 2nd Trump term. RFK jr having an even remote chance of being in his cabinet should be enough to disqualify Trump, let alone the avalanche of everything else (look up RFK jr & measles epidemic in Samoa around 2017/18). Including Jan 6, the Big Lie/Election interference, failure to commit to a peaceful/smooth transfer of power, SA payout, 4 indictments, 34 felonies with potentially more from 3 delayed criminal cases depending on whether he loses, Roe V Wade overturning, project 2025, Autocrat friendships & love language, border bill tanking for political gain, compulsive Lying (somehow drastically worse than politicians usually are), VP candidate JD Vance, etc etc etc.
