  1. I doubt you’ve hurt anything. No one in my family changes fluids other than engine oil. We never experienced a fluid related failure, but we tend to drive easy. If you live in an area with road salt you may have trouble removing the plugs. It’s probably best to have a mechanic do this job.

  2. Is the oil on the dipstick clean? If dirty, the service still needs to be done. They may have changed the oil, but not the filter. That is why it’s 1/4 high. I’d make them redo the service. Mark the filter to make sure it’s changed. Put tape on the oil drain plug to make sure they change the oil.
