They are supposed to fill just below the full line. It would save them money. Overfilling is really bad since the oil will foam.

@nicholaspaul2458 Part of the problem is people complain if their oil is below the full line. I’ve always driven the car for at least half an hour and then waited 15 minutes to check the level. This gives a more accurate reading.

Toyota uses spin on filters on all their new TNGA engines. The older models about to be discontinued (NA V6s) use this old style filter.

I definitely would not use a thinner oil than what is recommended. I’d use 5w30 (or better yet 0w30 if you can find it) synthetic in all three if out of warranty. I’m not a fan of thin oils. In a very hot climate you can go up to 10w30.

Generally Toyotas and most domestic cars do not burn oil. Some European cars and many Japanese cars use a lot of oil since they are poorly made. New engines should not burn any oil. More frequent oil changes are better. All engines will burn oil eventually especially if the oil gets dirty between changes. I’d just do it every 3 months, oil is cheap. Mobil 1 and Pennzoil often have rebates. Don’t overfill or you will wreck the engine. It’s best to be just under the full line. Check hot 15 minutes after shut down.
