  1. The spin on filters are easy to cut open. The filters are always clean in Toyotas anyway, not matter how long it’s in there. I’m glad the newer (2019+) RAV4s have a spin on filter.

  2. Engines break in today much like 50 years ago. The oil and filters are better. Some manufacturers recommend leaving the dirty oil in the crankcase to help the new engine break in. Personally I do the first change at 3-4k miles and then 5-6k miles thereafter. It takes about 25k miles to break in a modern engine.
