how could they just board them up? what were the families supposed to do with the dead ones ? live with rotting corpses? how would they get any food? how would they tell anyone that they had dead people to bury ? i think a lot of them didn't die of plague but of thirst and starvation. If nobody could go to t he well or get any food !

i think a lot of the people were already very malnourished so they took ill and couldn't recover. Same as today, being malnourished is a risk for any illness.

if they threw silver coins or anything of real silver in thier wells, it woul d probably make a big diffrence . the water would be impregnated with silver element traces, and that could kill the plague germs when they drank it. or if they used silver goblets to drink wine. Or if they washed with that water. Also if they di d not have rats and fleas . Could have also used herbs like mint in thier tea, and wash water, and other germ killing herbs and concentrated extracts. If they also kept distance between houses, and stayed to themselves.
