YES IT IS MIDDLE CLASS . FOR SURE. BUT HUD HAS TWEAKED IT TO SAY IT'S LOW INCOME. these people can pay thier own rent. LOW INCOME HOUSING SHOULD BE FOR THOSE WHO CAN'T PAY A NORMAL RENT- MUCH LOWER INCOME THAN 60,000. and giving this housing to middle class is a sin. it should only be for those much lower income, who are HOMELESS NOW due to the housing being unavailable and taken up by these middle class moochers who hardly need it at all. They can pay rent , since 60,000 = 5000 a month. This program hhas ben GENTRIFIED to allow middle class to live thre while the real poor go homeless as a result. THE NUMBERS OF UNITS ARE VERY LIMITED.

then you have to pass local laws about that being required to be built . middle class has NO need for HUD funding. the poor need it and there is never enough to go around. Change the local laws about building homes. Mortgages will cover it. But better get Trump in to reduce the cost of interest on those mortgages.

@1014p Are you joking? so you think they should live in RV's or rent the cheap apartments and then the actual poor can't get them, they sleep inthe street . People need to own a home, even if it's a cheap one. But no need for subsidy. Just BETTER LOCAL LAWS about what can be built .

Don't listen to this guy, he is totally wrong about how the housing works. He is totally out of the loop. And has no idea how it really works. 1400pages is alll the regulations governing th whole program. No they do not pay 70 percent to build the apartments ! LIES. HE IS VERY CONFUSED. Hes a bad guy if he's trying to remove all the low income housing from the housing stock, this is very much needed for america's poor. THERE ISN'T NEARLY ENOUGH CHEAP RENTAL HOUSING! SEVERE SHORTAGE. it's one of the biggest reasons for so many homeless nowadays. Nobody wants to build cheap rent units without these incentives.

NO, he is thinking of subsidized housing ( HUD pays up to 70% of the rent for the impoverished person) but LIHTC ( tax credit) housing that he's talking about, is NOT subsidized rents. It's just a PROPERTY tax break for a decade or two ( length of the mortgage). HUD MAY GIVE A GRANT TO GET IT STARTED BUT IT'S LIKE A DOWN PAYMENT. they have to keep rents low and you have to have a "low income" to live there . this is vital since NO builder ever builds cheap rent housing without incentive , therefore the poor are finding it impossible to find a cheap enough place to rent on minimum wage. And what does this guy have agaisnt making sure the poor and disabled among us are HOUSED? There is nothing evil about this kind of housing. IT'S MEANT TO BENEFIT THE POOR, DISABLED, AND ELDERLY AND KEEP THEM OF F THE STREET. BUT SOME housing authorities are choosing to make it available to middle class, people who make up to 80 percent of median. That is obscene, when the real true low income people are missing out on the cheaper rent and going homeless. SO HUD NEEDS TO TWEAK THE RULES AND ONLY ALLOW THE POOR TO LIVE THERE.
