well, you can't really close the dept of education entirely, it isn't really for local k-12 education. it is extremely important for COLLEGES, GRANTS, AND FUNDING FOR THE POOR WHO ARE GOOD STUDENTS, TO ATTEND COLLEGE on Pell grants and loans, scholarships etc. Eliminating the Dept of Ed would be disastrous for this nation and would remove opportunity for half of college students, including Trade Schools ! he needs to learn more and refine his ideas about that.
