  1. Term limits in congress is not the best idea unless it's really long like 20 years. Shorter term limits would be a huge mistake, and takes away from the voters' choice. Too many newbies are gonna mess it up as they haven't learned the complicated governance, the process or the laws. THERE IS NO GUARANTEE WE WILL HAVE GOOD CANDIDATES to replace them so often. Long term Congressmembers become experts some times, and they know the history and precedent, and the legislation, where newbies will have to learn it all over again.

  7. lobbying isn't supposed to be bribery. we jus t need to forbid any form of bribery in lobbying. "Lobbying" used to mean people who talk to officials " in the lobby" and express things and ask for things that are for a group of people. Used to not involve bribes.

  10. i don't think you understand . we woul d lose the good along with the bad. Let the People choose. there's no guarantee good people will be available as new candidates. Plus Congress is much more formidable of a job than a state legislature, so it takes a whole first term to even get up to speed. They develop expertise over time and that is needed . If there must be term limits, it shouldn't be a day less than 20 years . or 16 for House of Reps.

  11. True, Biden is lawless, but the laws could use tightening up and give him less choice. Also hold him accountable. We need fewer democrats in office inCongress. They overrule the better ideas too often about the border etc. just by out numbering the Republicans .

  12. maybe it could be limited like they get to veto a few lines and they can be overruled by congress 2/3 or something. But the big problem is, the bills should be separated , not huge omnibus bills of lots of items and unrelated stuff. .

  15. some of them don't, they may do t he opposite. but yeah we have so many laws that nobody knows them all and regular citizens don't know much. We also aren't educated about them in school , that's a huge mistake.

Congress.gov , Library of Congress, or Justia can be good places to look, also C-span has good videos of the actual debates, votes etc. People like you say stuff like that because YOU don't know enough. not because THEY aren't doing it.

  18. NO. this i s one thing i won't agree with DeSantis on. Because by term limits , you take away the choice of the voters. Also Federal Government is huge and more complicated than State governments. Plus then you have to replace the good ones , and we don't have many good candidates . First term in Congress is about getting acquainted and learning how it works. So you have to have the older people who know all about it , and how the laws work, there for the newbies. If there were term limits in Congress, it would have to be something like 20 years. Or you won't have seasoned members , you will have people always learning the same basic newby stuff over again like freshmen who know too little to really be in charge of this country.
