  1. Eventually our population will have to stabilize and stop growing. That along with increased efficiency of technology means that we will never need to produce energy anywhere near these levels. Be realistic.

  2.  @jaybee8862  Yes, the limit for Earth is about 10 billion which we are approaching. Contrary to what some say we will not be able to colonize mars within the next 500-1000 years assuming no major catastrophes happen. We will first have make major advancements in order to get people and resources to Mars. Then we will have to totally change the surface of the planet. Terraforming mars will likely take thousands of years. The next major problem will not be a matter of producing enough food or energy to support all of these people, it will be about how to support them financially. We already have a huge percentage of people living below the global poverty line. With advancements in technology we will see blue collar jobs disappearing rapidly. IE automation will put billions of people out of work globally. How do we support these people? We have to support them or they will starve and riot. People have proposed having a universal basic income where people get paid to sit around at home. Where is this money going to come from? So its not just enough to slow or stop the population growth, we have to reduce the population and maintain it at a acceptable level. The point is that humanity is completely fucked unless we kill about 5 billion people within the next 100 years and maintain a population of around 3-5 billion.
