@B B We have more guns than most armies. When the settlers moved west in the 1800's it is estimated 200 were killed by Indians, 40,000 killed by people playing with their guns. Some things never change.

With 20,000 firearm deaths per year, we will run out of citizens.

@hvmetalwarmonger178 The US didn't have an army at the time it was written - just militias.

So instead of worrying about getting shot by a crook, we have to worry about getting shot by 10,000 idiots (gun enthusiasts) who want to play with their toys.

The Second Amendment doesn't cover rockets and Javlin missiles.
1
@widehotep9257 Those Javelin missiles cost $178,000 are you going to start a collection?

@widehotep9257 A militia would be as useless today as the militia was during the revolution. The only reason we won the revolution was because the French got into it.

@widehotep9257 Btw, French ARMY.

Trump tried to overturn the election Jan.6. Had he succeeded, your Second Amendment would have been made null and void.

@Roadglide911 My info came from a Park Ranger . Are you saying she lied?
1
@otpyrcralphpierre1742 Lie? Why would anyone lie about that? Are you a nut case? There are 45,000 gun deaths today. Why would it surprise you a lot of people died on the open prairie?

@dennisnebgen9049 Park Ranger at the St. Louis Arch Museum. 30 years ago, don't go there to check - she's likely not there anymore.

@dennisnebgen9049 "The Oregon Trail has been called the world's longest graveyard, with one body, on average, buried every 80 yards or so ' .May 30, 1993

@dennisnebgen9049 Wagon wheels were a big killer. Fall off and guess what? Since the people walked most of the time, they were right there close to those big wheels. The Indians were mostly helpful as long as the wagons kept moving (they didn't want them to stop).
1
@dennisnebgen9049 Don't know. They had an overblown fear of Indian attacks. The guns were definitely out. Why would you assume the Ranger was lying? They estimate, on average , there was a grave site every 80 yards all the way from St. Louis to Oregon.
1
@dennisnebgen9049 The wagons ran for something like eight years. 40,000 deaths by firearms = 5,000 deaths per year, which doesn't seem out of line since millions made the trip. In 2020 there were 45,000 firearm deaths in the US . Only 37% own a gun.

@hvmetalwarmonger178 You mean we don't get to count black people as 3/5 white people anymore?
