@brianhouse6675 What did they mean by "well regulated militia"?

quietman356 123455 Early on, Sanders was a carpenter. One of his homes was inherited. All Senators have two homes. He became a millionaire from a best selling book.

@Brian Noland Uncontrolled and unregulated capitalism is creating insane wealth for the very few. Workers in this country have had static wages for the last 40 years. Things won't change with the present system.
2
Carolynn Markiewicz Tax cuts for the wealthy is giving away free stuff. And yes, it robbed our country. The condition of our roads, schools and infrastructure is a testament to that.
2
Except Democratic Socialist countries in Europe have a higher standard of living, free healthcare, free college, roads free of potholes and other goodies. They have capitalism, but a regulated capitalism.

@melissaamericanmade9831 We are paying twice as much for healthcare as anywhere else in the world. I found this: "The country's biggest health insurers raked in more than $11 billion in profit in the second quarter, particularly as recent mergers and newly-launched business lines began to bear fruit." You are not paying for healthcare. You are paying for insurancecare. Sanders WOULD foul this up. That is the idea.

"Meanwhile in the U.S., 643,000 Americans go bankrupt every year over medical bills. Japan spends $4,150 per capita on healthcare; the United States more than double at $9,451. "

@melissaamericanmade9831 Tax and spend left? Trump has increased spending by 22% and jumped the debt to an all time high. Why is he doing this? The stock market. The 1% is making a killing right now. Regarding big Pharma, you are contradictory. You favor less government, less regulation, but you seem to want to regulate big Pharma. Which is it? Half of the government programs Trump is cutting back are regulatory. Getting "government off our backs" is just opening the door for companies, such as big Pharma , to do what they want to do, making enormous profits.
1
@dalejohnson1645 They are hungry in Venezuela because we imposed sanctions on the people (which happens to violate international law). We want their oil. Don't be stupid. Google things instead of listening to Lou Dobbs.
1
@usam-zf6gc Who told you that? Lou Dobbs? Insurance companies made an 11 billion dollar profit just in the second quarter last year.
1
@raimondibro The middle class has been static for forty years. Buying power for them is lower now than it was in 1970 when you factor in inflation. Nearly 40% of Americans are living pay check to pay check. When Kennedy was president the ultra, super wealthy paid 91% in taxes, which funded all sorts of programs that benefited the middle class. Today, the ultra rich use the extra cash to play the stock market and buy million dollar penthouses in NYC.
1
@aalvarez2914 The democrats are just promoting a continuation of some of FDR's policies. He was about as far away from communism as you can get. In fact, his progressive programs saved our economic system FROM the communists. Capitalism is fine as long as it is regulated and controlled. No one is worth a 300 million dollar pay check. Billionaires should not be allowed to exist. They should be taxed to the hilt.
1
Jacob Lewis Good. Now they should be forced to pay more. Way more. The US is underfunded. Go out and look at the condition of the roads. Bridges are falling apart. Infrastructure is a disaster in this country.
1
@raimondibro What they are promoting is "friendly capitalism" - not Socialism (government takeover of businesses) . The idea of Bernie-style socialism turning into communism is just nonsense. Basically, Sanders wants to return to the days of FDR, Truman, Eisenhower and Kennedy when taxes for the ridiculously wealthy were at 91%. The middle class thrived in those days. Today, the ridiculously wealthy are buying million dollar penthouses in NY City and playing the stock market.
1
@brianhouse6675 You are full of beans. The 2nd amendment was written for defense against Indian attacks and pirates. Democratic socialism is simply a continuation of FDR's policies. Rich people are worried they will have to pay more. They need to pay more. Some of those people are paid millions of dollars per year.
1
Carolynn Markiewicz The constitution starts of with "We the people" , not "we the billionaire class". It's time we spread some of the wealth around. No one should be allowed to have 50 billion dollars. The government should tax the hell out of them to pay for some needed improvements that benefit everyone. We will be another Venezuela if we keep to the status quo.
1
@Priv007 He's been listening to Lou Dobbs.
1
@jamesjeanalexander4716 There weren't any socialists around when the Indians were kicked off their lands. Don't be a fool. The money grabbers did it. The 1% did it for profit. Now the 1% is doing it to the entire country. That is why ten million dollar penthouses are going up all around New York City while cities can't afford to maintain roads.
1
@bluemoose2497 So you are saying the ten million dollar luxury apartments going up all over New York City today remain empty? No, too much money is going to the top at the expense of everyone else. That is pretty obvious.
1
Dennis Mahaney There's plenty of money out there to pay for Sanders programs. It has been calculated that raising taxes of the ultra rich to a level close to what the tax rate was when Nixon was president, every household could receive an annual dividend of $8,500 for ten years.
1
@Roxanne Daniel Of course social programs are socialism. What else would you call them? Democratic Socialism is simply government for the benefit for the many, not the billionaire class. Compassionate capitalism .
1
@makesamnewcomecryagain8692 Looks like you could use some of that free education Sanders is promoting. You know, we already have free education: K -12. He just wants to extend it through college which would greatly benefit society.
1
Carolynn Markiewicz The 1% just got a 1.5 trillion dollar handout. How much "free stuff" can you buy with that? You people take the side of the millionaire class instead of promoting your own self-interest. Amazing how brainwashing works! All of Sanders policies pay for themselves in the long run. Free college will pay for itself . Medicare for all will save 450 billion dollars a year (and 68,000 lives). Turn Lou Dobbs off. That old man has 12 million dollars and he doesn't want you to have anything.
1
Carolynn Markiewicz Looks like you could use some of Sanders free education. You certainly don't know what socialism is. And Venezuela. Why are we imposing sanctions on them? It's against international law to wage warfare on civilians. We are doing this to take their oil.
1
@brianhouse6675 Fox News is the biggest propaganda machine out there. They don't even call themselves news anymore. They call it entertainment. Sanders is a socialist in the sense he wants to rein in the extremist capitalism we are experiencing today. When the nation's oligarchs are having multi million dollar penthouses under construction in NYC as we speak, it's time to raise their taxes to the pre-Reagan era level (91% ) again. Enough is enough. Communism. LMAO
1
@brianhouse6675 If you would turn off Lou Dobbs for ten minutes, you will see that no one is promoting socialism, i.e. government takeover of business and the economy . What they are promoting is ending the current billionaire-controlled takeover of government. They use the term "socialism" for lack of another term. Controlling and regulating the billionaire class would greatly improve society and get government back into the business of benefiting the middle class, not the 1%.
