  2.  @geraintwd  Dictators and tyrants being able to control the masses even more effectively are reason enough for me. Combine this with China's dystopian "social credit" system or an Islamic mullah who wants to gain hegemony and you can kiss all liberty goodbye.

  3. He missed the most likely scenario: Sunni vs Shi'a Islam. This war is already being fought by proxies like Hezbollah and ISIS/ISIL. Iran (Shi'a) essentially controls the capitals of 4 nations: Lebanon, Syria, Iraq (Shi'a regions) and Yemen; also Iran is aligned with Russia and has made inroads into Afghanistan and Pakistan. Meanwhile, the US is aligned with both Saudi Arabia and Turkey (both Sunni). Although Russia and the US aren't likely to initiate nuclear weapons, don't count on Erdogan in Turkey or Khamenei in Iran to use such restraint.

  4. It will never be a level playing field. Those with the brains and ambition to develop valuable skills will rise to the top. The lazy and foolish will drop to the bottom. However, that may well be an improvement because right now too many at the top are fools.

  7. Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I WOULD want to know, even if no cure exists, so I can make preparations for my future situation while still "of sound mind." Beyond that, I'd likely keep the info to myself or perhaps let my loved ones know of my desires "should" X happen so they're not left to try and figure out what my wishes may be for things like heroic measures or potential treatment options. I've already discussed such scenarios with my siblings, but knowing in advance would help me consider eventualities instead of hypotheticals.

  16. I'd be interested to see how people rate their happiness before and after watching a barrage of advertisements. It seems to me that the very purpose of ads is to make people unhappy - until you by their product or service which is offered as the solution.
