  1. The cult of envy began when mass media was used for ADVERTISING. Advertising exists to make us unhappy. It is used to stir up our insecurities (bad breath? body odor?) and desires in order to promote a particular product as the solution. But the solution never works (or not for long). It was only much later that politicians began to use it. Wealth is only tangential as a means to secure the elusive products that will finally succeed to make us happy.
