My mother became part of JW before I was born (started out in a christian family before turning to mormonism, then Jehovas. I always questioned it, it just didn't seem right to me. My father was christian/mormon for a while but not a true believer at any point, yet he sort of followed at least some "Christian values". So technically I was raised by christians. Neither me or my brother were even baptised, because neither of my parents wanted to push their beliefs onto us, something I truly appreciate as an atheist. My mother never got mad at me for doubting "God". My parents wanted us to be able to think for ourselves. I understand that for my mom, this must have been extremely hard. You know, considering her belief system tells her that both her children would go to hell. We celebrate birthdays and everything. She has NEVER shunned me or has never even been slightly critical towards me regardless of how much I used to question her beliefs, or my lack thereof. I LOVE my parents for all of this. At one point in my teens I even became fascinated with (LaVeyan) satanism. MY MOTHER bought me the book of LaVeyan satanism. Chill woman, right?? Just amazing. Yes, my mother truly loves her faith. I believe she has stepped away from Jehovas at least, I think she just considers herself christian, MAYBE mormon.. frankly none of my business. I'm so happy that my parents allowed their children to be critical thinkers, regardless of how different our beliefs could become. Respect.
