  1.  @MM-vs2et  The thing is tho, Germany HAVE learned from history.. America(ns) really love to really bring the point of "you know what you did" home everytime Germany is mentioned.. which is hypocritical and unnessecary, since Germany learned the importance of this QUICKLY. Rightfully so. So.. perhaps it's time to put your money where your mouth is America when it comes to this, and start doing the same.. since ya know.. America still refuse to tell their many ugly historic parts of their story, and both native Americans and African Americans are STILL to varying degrees being oppressed. Guess which country, just to name one example out of far too many, holds events like weddings and such over spots where extremely oppressed people have been brutally beaten, starved, r*ped, murdered, endured terror and forced labour +++.. Germany or America? WOOPSIE you guessed it, America! People rent out historic places with terrible history over the grounds of where people/slaves to be specific, without even specifying or memorializing it's dark history, to hold amongst other kinds of highly festive events and celebrations like weddings on plantation sites. You don't see that happening in Germany where there used to be labour camps. In Germany, it's impossible not to be reminded of the horrors of the holocaust due to memorials all over, and the ruins/remains of these camps have been turned into historic museums, without being altered to make it look better, unlike all the American places of horrors.. I could go on and on and on. Yet America loves to diss Germany any chance they get to point out the terrible history, the horrendous and unforgiveable events that took place. Germany don't hide it's terrible history. They've kept it 'on display' (in lack of a better term) to continue to educate all new generations, to make sure to not ever let anyone forget - not in order to 'blame' any German people at all, but because they truly understand just how terrible it all was.. as a reminder on what can happen if that dark history and knowledge of how easy it can be for extremism to flourish in the most awful ways if we were to forget just how dangerous it is to sow hatred, nationalism and division. Props to Germany, really. America on the other hand, who still have statues and monuments of the confederacy, refuse to teach the full story of terror with regsrds to slavery for instance (which incredibly, several people minimize ffs), who refuse to accept and ackowledge the importance of not teaching and showing the full story. Germany knows far too well what happened, and never minimize their unfortuante dark parts of history.. America's history of slavery still lingers, and is not reckognized and respected even close to how well it should be. So perhaps.. just a thought.. *cough* *cough* ... America should stop pointing their fingers at Germany, and face what's long overdue. I know America loves to pretend to have some moral highground over everything, despite glossing over so many gruesome facts, with discrimination still being far too present to this very day, including extreme voter supression being legislated these very days. If anything, America.. be more like Germany. Today, YOU have (neo-)nazis walking around proudly, including amongst your congress, as well as your last president being one of them. You're literally just throwing rocks inside of a glasshouse while acting as though you're in any way morally superior to anyone.
