If this is most peoples ability to reason no wonder Trump got elected. There’s so many things wrong with that. The food pyramid being wrong had lots of imperial evidence and we can point to corporations funding scientific research and lobbying the government. There’s no evidence for election fraud and if you are a student of the scientific method you will find lots of evidence the election is real and I’m saying this as someone who didn’t vote for Trump after he’s won. This is why people on the Left can’t deal with Trump voters. The election is real only if you win but you show no concern to educate yourself about the process.

  4. There’s a huge problem with education in this country. This topic could be discussed for a long time. Voucher programs are becoming popular in rural states. Public school are in terrible condition and the private schools most of which didn’t have enough resources to begin with are getting kids thrown at them and these private schools are using religion and corporate Influence to teach our kids their curriculums. It’s a mess. The more urban areas won’t use voucher programs which is good but I know they are a mess too. Access to equal education is in the constitution and wealthy areas get disproportionately more funding across the nation.

  6. The thing with Elon is I see a chink in his armor because if he truly believes in free speech why didn’t he bring free speech to X and he lied about it. So thats not someone I trust as much as I would like to. Technically I can post whatever I want on X but he’s boosting and paying only people on the right. So money equals the ability to speak louder than anyone else is not exactly Democratic.

  9. Hold on Tom. Are you not considering the gilded age? Th ere was time when Carnegie and Rockefeller and a few others literally owned America and the wealth disparity was enormous. It wasn’t good for us. Organized labor and Anti Trust came out of that and those were good things that are part of the fabric of how things work here. You don’t think the Tech bros aren’t consolidating power and that as a Democracy we shouldn’t worry about that? Nothing to do with jealousy of those with money. Also you can earn a lot of money yes but at what point is it stealing money because money and power cycle together and not everything going on is ethical? So don’t be so naive about the Oligarchy staring us down. Which it seemingly is.

Whatever system we change to besides the gold standard we have never seen before So the blockchain seems like it could answer a lot of problems but no one knows. I had read that when America was settling the West each state or territory had its own currency and that may have helped the economy (s) I believe the book I read was Money by Jacob Goldstein So maybe for a while we just have different currencies or maybe we just replace gold as capital. I’m trying to understand more bc it seems like getting away from inflated currency is the biggest issue of the time and would solve a lot if our currency couldn’t be manipulated. It always leads back to the money.

  14. I think Unions are a sign of a healthy Democracy. I think they are needed. I also know companies would rather manufacture elsewhere in order to avoid Unions. There’s a healthy battle there between Organized labor and corporations that I think is key to a strong middle class and government. There’s something I don’t get about that balance though. The middle class is shrinking (my husband is involved in Union business) You would think the answer is Unions, however the capitalist bosses are saying unions kill their innovation and productivity and it’s like Well damn. Maybe we have to wait until the innovation has slowed down and then organize labor as was done during the Industrial Revolution to avoid rule by corporations. Hopefully we won’t have to endure Upton Sinclair’s the Jungle. And with AI I don’t even know if Unions will be relevant. We need the equivalent of organized labor for AI. I do not know what that could be. Not Luddites but some form of like hey if you want to collect all my data and you’re going to advertise to me 24hours a day and try to control me to your end. You need to at least pay me for reading my google searches and purchases and gps coordinates and health data. Whatever they collect. That’s worth money and people should be able to opt out of it or get paid if they don’t. Elon musk and Jeff Bezos can afford this.

  26. I really appreciate this conversation and find it valuable. I have a hard time when people keep saying this is the revolt of the “working” class. I get that it’s the result of the lower half ish of income people I’d say that. Personally though it’s hard for me to say it’s working class bc I am a Dem in a red area and the people I know voting for Trump and it’s lots. A few have inherited wealth and though it’s not a huge amount they live rather easily in a county most wouldn’t want to live and they are A holes honestly And others just can’t do for themselves. Education is available they snark at it. They have prejudice language I think for sure. Working class of Industrial Revolution sure I’m with you Lifting people out of the potato famine hell yes But these rural folks live in the wealthiest country in the history of the world and they take advantage of that poorly I get I sound condescending but this is truly what I’m grappling with right now. I guess in the broader sense it’s healthy for the system I think what I’m saying is should Trump and America be encouraging this lifestyle and culture of taking for granted education and living what seems to me to be an arrogant lifestyle where they didn’t care about politics until this extreme right wing came out with Trump The culture it creates It doesn’t jive for me even if Trump isn’t all the things they say about him. I don’t like how he uplifts these truly unsavory elements of society. In a true Democracy this is healthy I think But I still think these people on the right after they’ve made their point will be at the end of a leash because the culture is ultimately further left on most issues so I just wish we could skip this process and get to the more perfect union part This process sucks

  27. I think it’s a good thing ultimately that humans are evolving technology. After. We aren’t human just to live to contribute to GDP and die. We have other wants and needs and maybe life will get much better for humanity one day. However I can’t help but think of all the people that will be harmed in the process of change.   29. I am a lab tech literally run cholesterol panels everyday. It’s not that we run ldl incorrectly by not running direct. LDL is guessed using a calculation if your total cholesterol is under 200. This is to save resources and it’s wha Medicare pays for so it’s what the health system does. Over 200 and a direct ldl will be measured. But triglycerides are also measured in that which I didn’t hear him talk about and those are from animal products
