  3. Duplicate date seems easier to find than made up data, I wonder if that kind of cheating is going under the radar. At any rate, these sorts of revelations really make me lose trust in academia. Clearly, something about the system is badly wrong, how can you get the public to trust research if the research has a reasonable chance of being fake? Until this is solved, I only see trust decreasing further. Honesty is always best for everyone involved, no one, least of all humanity, benefits from lying. Let your yes mean yes and your no no, what goes beyond this is from the wicked one.
