  3. Only the state controlled churches are legal in China, which are run by party officials, not clergy. Time and again the party has firced these churches to close, imprisoning and killing Christians involved in them, so most people assume they're basically just a trap or, at best, a way for the CCP ti spy on Christians. No wonder no one wants in, though some of the lower clergy in the CCP churches do actually believe in God.
