  1. This sounds a lot like people being taught to accept demonic possession. It reminds me of Fetishists in Africa, even down to the amulets, that is, fetishes. If your religion is starting to resemble fetishism, you're clearly going wrong, why destroy idols in the Kaaba only to accept and appease demons anyway?
