Seeing Thoth appear to you suggests one of three things, 1 Thoth is real, 2 this is actually just a manifestation of your mind, not external, 3 that's a demon.
Given what happened to ancient Egypt, how their religion motivated the enslavement and attempted genocide of the Hebrews, then was destroyed by Catholics and Muslims, clearly Thoth isn't legitimate, having been shown to be both evil and not able to save, so not real.
Who can tell between the other two, but the Bible makes clear that "Satan keeps on disguising himself as an angel of light."

I would argue that the existence of groups like Jehovah's Witnesses show that you absolutely can have Christianity without political power. Now, an atheist may not find Christianity itself compelling, but Christianity can exist without political elements. I would also say, Atheism criticises the political corruption of the churches but presents itself as a political force, Atheism is not without political corruption itself, it argues that it does what Christendom does, but better, and maybe that's true, but there is a third option, what Jesus did. When offered all the kingdoms of the world by Satan, he told Satan to go away, when offered a crown by the Jews he fled to the mountains.
