He also participated in violating the laws and traditions of the Republic, but he wasn't the first to do that. He was a product of the Gracchi and Sulla, of waring gangs of gladiators. We haven't seen the same omnipresence of gang violence in politics in the west, our police are better, but everyone has been ignoring the constitution. Trump is ending it, but he wasn't the first. The conditions are different enough that the results won't be the same, but the parallels are obvious, future historians will compare Trump and Ceaser again and again, as well as Trump and Sulla.
